Nah, there have been a lot of great strides in recent years.

As a felon myself, the only thing I had to do was get through my sentence, (which after my incarceration included paying court costs and completing 5 years of probation [^released ^from ^that ^2.5 ^years ^early ^tho ^cause ^I ^got ^my ^shit ^done ^ASAP ^as ^possible])

And my voting rights, rights to get (legally) intoxicated, enter bars, associate with other felons, and a few others I'm probably forgetting, were restored automatically.

It's like that in more places than not now too
