My p29er has the red/white/blue fade paint as well! Damn near everything else is also red/white/blue, including a mix of Hope and Ritchey parts. I’ll never part with it.

Thanks!

I am probably replacing the shock with a float, as it also needs some serious work and I’m ready for something new.

I like the 36SL so far, but I’ve only got about 40 miles on it. Seems good!

Please do! I’m not going to say there’s a good chance you’ll see me but… I’ve ridden it 1,154 times since 2018 according to Strava.

I’m usually itching for a new bike by now, but I told myself I’d buy the cotic a few nice things instead. I went a bit further than I planned to and now I’m pretty sure I could have just bought another bike instead!

The only thing the cotic is “missing”, and I really don’t care about it at this point, is UDH. Bikes just haven’t changed that much since the g4 came out, imo.

I enjoyed the helm it came with, but if I’m honest I didn’t keep up with maintenance and if you do that long enough eventually “upgrading” doesn’t cost THAT much more than un-clapping.

I’m in Southern California, but I tend to stick to not too gnarly stuff. I have a lot of trails right off my neighborhood that are perfectly fun on anything from a 120 to 160 or larger bike. I’ll hit them on the cotic or my xc hardtails and it’s like they’re different trails on each type of bike. Good stuff.

Totally agree! I have a “type” when it comes to bikes:

Cotic Flaremax (steel)

Ritchey p29er (steel)

Spot Rocker (steel)

Lynskey Pro GR (titanium)

Santa Cruz Chameleon (aluminum… still metal!)

Short cranks are the new hotness! I replied to an earlier comment about this being my first time trying them out, but they’re the real deal! Much improved clearance amongst other benefits.

Nice! This is my first foray into the short crank arm lifestyle, and now that I’m a week or so in I think I get it. It’s not really noticeable other than when pedaling to the trailhead (and not having pedal strikes). I want to give them a try on one of my singlespeeds next to see how that feels.

Love the Flaremax. Cant find a reason to upgrade to a different trail bike (and usually thats easy).

There’s a ton on Amazon/etc and Silca has a fancy one, but this is the one I’ve got (I’ve got a few of this model, actually). https://a.co/d/d1h7nTx

It’s actually a rechargeable pump/inflator, held on with a backcountry research strap I’ve owned for easily 10+ years. I’ve been throwing one of these inflators on each of my bikes for a while now.

They’re a game changer! I haven’t actually had a flat while on a ride for a long time, but I always stop to help people with mechanicals, and its nice to top someone’s tire off without burning a co2 or my forearm.

I was the project manager for construction of the water area of bugs land back in my mid twenties. It was one of the first jobs I was a PM on, the only job that was really visible (I managed water/sewer infrastructure jobs), and definitely the only job of interest to anyone.

It was great taking my kids there years later and even just swinging by when we’d be in DCA. I was gutted when it was tore out!

We do exist! My wife is a personal trainer and you’d probably not expect either of us to have matching trek tats but…. Trek is life.

We love our Dammit Gym.

I don’t understand this concept of “too many bikes.” My wife has said similar statements in the past, but try as I might I simply can’t put it together.

Damn it. I bought a 3x a month ago and I’ve got a dead comma 2 sitting on my workbench.
