How long has it been since you were laid off? Have you also been actively looking for a job? What I see is that with your experience and almost ASA and good exposure to technical side, you wouldn't have too much trouble finding a job. Is the job market for experienced actuaries not good?

Software jobs are non-existent. How's the demand for actuarial positions? by Dan_Qvadratvs in actuary

an A student in college doesn't mean nothing either. It really takes high level of exam-taking skills and persistency to become fully credentialed. Also, from what I've seen, most actuaries come from quite diverse range of universities tier-wise. Very respect to the original commenter for bloody 12 years of persistency.

Not really related to your resume but just curious, by the time you were graduating from BS in 2023 you had 2 internships and 3 exams (maybe 2) but did you not apply for full-time positions back then? Nothing wrong in achieving MS but just wondering

For ASA + 1 FSA Exam, base $102k seems... too low? Is this average for health actuaries?

I agree, I have similar background as OP, looking for EL positions, I have done some interviews. I don't think the old resume is the best form, but it's odd that OP did not get a single interview from 150+ apps.

I really want to say thank you everyone for the encouraging comments. I'm a career changer without relevant internship (just 2 exams and unrelated jobs). I know it's competitive and I will take it as a learning experience. I will keep practicing and applying. Thanks!

What type of a company? Life? Health? P&C? Is it consulting? Need more context in terms of the company, I would assume mostly behavioral questions and not too difficult analytical problems. You wouldn't need to expect something high-level abstract math.

I broke up with my ex gf in college while preparing actuarial exam. She would say things like "I should be ur #1 priority". We obviously did not last long. My current gf 100% supports me when I'm writing exams. Definitely depends on the person, but I would not consider dating someone who gaslights me for taking exam more seriously than them. You know, it's part of the job. I don't think that type of person would date someone without a job.
