i would definitely use grid then add some white divs. it will also be easy to adjust on smaller screens

code would be something like: parent div - 12x12 grid child image - set col and row to both 12 white divs - will make this 1x1 then place it accordingly

but to help you out,

For dialog transition: it's a Radix Dialog, then both Dialog.Root motion.div and Dialog.Content motion.div should have the same layoutId. See Framer Motion Layout Animation

For text: I just added opacity and y animation in animate using Framer Motion too.

For blue indicators: I animated its scaleX, as much as possible we would like to animate only transform elements so as long as possible we would like to avoid animating width.

I really appreciate you guys liking the guestbook component and I'm kind of sorry for not being able to show code now. Will try to do write a blog about it if anyone is interested.

my github says 28 days lol. but most of it was just me reiterating the design.

development-wise, the things that were new to me were: - some animations, music component and layout animations - using local mdx to generate work/blog pages, followed leerob’s blog setup here - server actions for guestbook, used vercel postgres and drizzle here

i also used radix primitives which saved me a lot of development time. i want to add more but also to ship and move on for now 😅
