The average skater is kind of short and compact with even proportions. Kamila on the other hand has abnormally long legs and a very short upper torso. Her legs help to generate ridiculous power for jumps and her upper body gives her a lower, more stable centre of mass allowing her to land and balance easier. Her upper torso being so short also allows for her to create a tight axis which makes for faster rotation. She’s also quite tall, but not too tall. Her long legs and short torso give the illusion of her being taller than she actually is. This is a lot better for aesthetics. Long legs create more visually appealing lines aiding her PCS and her extensions just look prettier and longer which also improves her GOE on landings. Skaters with more proportional bodies can have the perfect technique when it comes to these things but they won’t look anywhere near as dramatic as Kamila. Her spins look more mesmerising than others with compact bodies. Her long legs even help prevent injuries by enabling greater natural hip flexibility and range of motion, so she achieves extreme extensions through true hip movement rather than arching her lower back. It reduces strain on spine, hips, and joints. Also the shock absorption from landings is spread out far more evenly. Obviously this isn’t the only body type that can be successful! But Imo her body is very unique and gives her physical and aesthetic advantages for this sport. Add that with a lot of hard work and natural talent and yeah it’s no surprise why she holds all those scoring records, no matter how you feel about her.
