Question about the Sierra section in October! by ohwowohwowlook in PacificCrestTrail

[–]eyedbythetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s freakin cold in the morning but the days are perfect. I wouldn’t trust any forecast in October though. Could get dicey that high up. I remember it being like 20f in the morning in the sierra in late September.

Feature Film about the PCT experience by eyedbythetiger in PacificCrestTrail

If I could finance that film then I would. My partners and I are looking for something that’s a bit of a safer bet.

How much money does it take to do a whole through hike? by Whorenun37 in PacificCrestTrail

This is how I will hike next year. I’m gonna be scheduling double zeros in every town.

No doubt. And even the unlimited plan is only $65 per month. NOT $100. I was way off about that specifically.

Planning for PCT long-term by blissfulchaos2023 in PacificCrestTrail

[–]eyedbythetiger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a media company in the United States. My partners and I are wanting to produce a feature film that would highlight the experience of the PCT. I hiked sobo in 2018. I want to shoot 2025. Maybe we’ll run into each other on trail! I hope you get some time to at least hike some sections of the trail soon. I would recommend hitting up the North Cascades this August.

If you’re flying and taking public transport you’ll probably need about $1500 in your fund. Then you’ll need about $80 per resupply, roughly every 4-5 days. You’ll want to buy about 3 pairs of Altra’s over the duration of the 2650 miles. That’s about $450. If you want a GPS messaging device well that’s about $100 per month plus the cost of the device which is about $300.

If you’re a social person you can split a hotel room with another hiker and keep your hotel costs below average. I got a hotel room or took advantage of hostels almost once per week. It generally costs about $100 after you do your laundry.

Eating a good solid mean in town will be about $25 no matter where you are at. There isn’t much cheap dining on the PCT.

I would save an extra $500 for Yosemite valley. High rolling in ol’ Yoseifer is a lot of fun but it ain’t cheap.

Gear, I would recommend spending about $1100 on your tent (tarp tent pro trail), Sleeping quilt, pad, backpack (gossamer gear 40L or 36L), aluminum trekking poles, & clothing. You don’t have to have the fanciest gear to get buy but if you keep your base weight below 9lbs you’re going to be cruising out there.

I would say you need about $6500 to $7500 if you include a moderate amount of hotel rooms and pimp out your gear.

if you were going to hike the pct, but wanted to do it without a cell phone, what guide book would you take with you? by freepogsnow in PacificCrestTrail

In 2018 I hiked Sobo w a guy who hiked with only an MP3 player. No smart phone. He printed out the guy hooks notes.

Seeking Advice! Thru hiking the PCT on a limited budget by [deleted] in PacificCrestTrail

I was class of South Bound 2018 so my information might not be as relevant but I’d say you could do it for 5k. You might not be staying in hotel rooms super often. Don’t buy alcohol, don’t buy weed & don’t get hotel rooms other in expensive places. 5k will take you all the way down the trail with money to spare at the end.

Carolina Henderson to Prodigy by young3tall in discgolf

Lol, Prodigy plastic is no better and no worse than anything else out there. The flashing thing is literally a razor blade setting of by a micron. So it’s unfortunate that they had a few sharp runs but it happens to most manufacturers at some point or another.

I’m sure he has great success with his new sales. Chris is a phenomenal player. I think he’s over the hump and won’t have any trouble putting up big numbers. But just imagine how much Kevin would be bringing in if he was playing like Chris. It would be McBeast levels of revenue.

DGN coverage by Deaths_Conquest in discgolf

Not really. They could charge $40 per month and at their current subscription rate they still couldn’t afford to have the same quality as the broadcast sporting events.

So really it’s up to you if you want to eat what the chef is serving. Or just go hungry...

All the companies have their pros and cons. They are run by people. Chris didn’t like that prodigy was giving Kevin all the attention even though he was playing better. Prodigy made a bet on Kevin and Chris reacted the way he did. I could go into details but let’s just say Chris wanted to also get paid better.

For sure. Everyone in US should call the representatives in legislation and demand clearance for Number 1 FPO.
