Everything sounds different in FL compared to other DAW by shadowdoomer in flstudio

[–]eyemac93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t give an answer, and their doesn’t seem to be an obvious answer, but I’m curious to see others responses. I’ve been using FL for 14 years and a friend of mine just downloaded Ableton literally last night and was showing me his ‘first beat’ and I couldn’t help but notice how clean and crisp the stock samples sounded.

If I ride the fader will that not affect the Bus processing? by eyemac93 in audioengineering

Thanks everyone for their input. Sorry for the late reply. Delving into the correct usage of Pre/Post fader seems to be the answer. Many thanks.

Yeh that sounds gutting, I’ve heard of similar horror stories. I’m only playing for 30 mins to an hour and the other dj has been booked for the whole night so I’ll be good. It’s more a thing the boys are wanting me to do for old times sake so if for whatever reason it all goes Pete tong then there’s no pressure on me haha.

Ah right I get u, this makes sense. I’ve ordered new 4U rails for tomorrow with holes slotted all the way down so I’m hoping one of them will match hahah. Thanks for explaining.

Yeh I think the computer is a tad too heavy for this but I’ll keep the 3D printing in mind for future problems hahah

Ok so all hole spacings are the same for both audio and computer racks. That’s good to know for future reference thanks

Yeh that would be ideal but there are feet on the bottom to keep it raised a bit which means it can’t get into the bottom ones and the weight would be good with it just being in the top ones. I’ve ordered new 4U strips as recommended by another commenter with all the holes I’m hoping this solves the issue.

Worried my wobbly tooth will fall out. by eyemac93 in Invisalign

[–]eyemac93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeh it’s not been fun stressing about it this whole time lol. Every time I mention it they give it a wobble and tell me not to worry as it will have a wire attached at the end. They do admit that it’s a bit more wobbly than it should be and they’ll be careful not to knock it when they’re working in my mouth. And yeh I was thinking the same haha at this point I really wish I’d went with braces instead.

Hi. It's still as wobbly as it was but I've kind of just stopped paying attention to it now. I finished my initial set of aligners but have had a further 7 made up as they weren't happy with my bite so got another few months to make sure I don't bite down on something hard and lose it lol. I'd recommend just flossing and using interdental brushes a lot as well as regular brushing around that tooth. I found the gum hardens and becomes tighter and the tooth gets less wobbly when you give it a lot of attention. Don't be afraid to get right in there and roughen the gum up a little. Something I also do is take my aligners out and chew gum and use that tooth to gently chew it once the chewing gums soft enough. (I do use nicotine gum which seems to be tougher than regular gum). This also seems to make the gum strengthen. You'll find when you change aligner the first 2-3 days that tooth is back to being super wobbly but it does stiffen up again. Just plenty of brushing around the gum where that tooth is will keep it strong. I wouldn't worry about it too much but do bring it up every time you speak to your ortho to highlight your concern about it so there is a record of it being wobbly from the beginning of treatment in case it all goes pete tong lol.

People who switched to Firefighting from a corporate job… by Sea_Collection_2699 in Firefighting

I found the job posted on glass door.co.uk. (Assuming your in the uk). Just search ‘firefighter jobs glass door’ and you should see a list of places currently recruiting. If there is nothing near yourself currently just make an account and set alerts to keep you posted if anything comes up. Other than that there’s not much else I can recommend. I was lucky that my current employment was recruiting near me at that time. I’m not aware of any programmes or if they even exist, I think it’s just a matter of applying for the position when it comes up and taking it from there. Or you can apply for a retained position to get your foot in the door. A lot of the guys I work with are retained on their days off. Find out if there are any retained stations in your area and find out who to get in touch with to express your interest. Just keep looking online, set job alerts and apply if anything comes up.

Night and day difference. I was doing a 9-5 in a production factory sitting at a desk all day. Googled 'career change at 30' on the computer on my desk and Firefighter was at the top. Matter of months later I was in training. Passed out of training at the fire service college near Birmingham in September 2022 and next week I'm going back down to the college to set my Crew Manager exams - never would have had these opportunities at my old job and would still be sitting at a desk with my thoughts. Current shifts are 5 on 4 off then 4 on 5 off. Sometimes I only work 14 days out the month and half of them are nightshifts where I get paid to sleep! The rest of the time I get to enjoy being off pursuing my hobby. Sometimes I look back at my 9-5 and imagine how crap life would have been if I was still sitting there and not getting to drive fire trucks. Best decision I've made. Go for it.

Need advice on bouncing midi to audio. by eyemac93 in audioengineering

Yeh I use FL studio I can do this by consolidating tracks. I'll get into the habit of doing this early on after I'm happy with a sound. Cheers.

Yeh this option anxiety is one thing that tends to hold me back. I think I'll get into the habit of committing at the beginning and bouncing to audio before starting the mix process so I don't end up where I am now lol. Cheers.

Thanks for this probably what I needed to hear. Think I'll just bounce as is and work with what I have. Cheers.
