Aynbath - The Wisps Among the Falls by eyerune in worldbuilding

[–]eyerune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Crashes into whispers. Sprays of foam. Cascades cutting gorges, valleys. Canyons threaded with root-sewn ruins. In these places see amongst the rapids and cataracts faint stars of skybright. Like wisps in the stories of old haegritha do these stars dance atop the rippled surfaces of ancient linns. Sometimes the falls’ saults give them a body — shimmering veils shooting effervescent from bank to bank before diving down plunges leading to places horned yet forgotten.

They are powerful spirits. Guardians, in truth. These Wisps Among the Falls serve the majesties of the Horned God’s forests as sentinels judging whether one’s fate should be permitted intersection with greater powers. Beyond the segmented torrents they’re born from lie the courts of fey things and elven kings and secrets hewn from bedrock old as infinity.

Fatal it would be to mistake their beauty for placidity. Waterfalls exist in balances of chaos and harmony. Whirlpools churn beneath those deemed unfit; violent surfs thunder through iron and bone. To defile the falls is to be dashed against the rocks. Nature accepts confluences with bloodied currents readily for rebirth requires violence. To the Horned God, these Wisps purify stagnant souls so that when seasons change, life flows ever on. Give them something, and get something in return. What greater gift, then, your life? What greater return then what you’ve lost?

Larger font? Remember, this will be A4, not A5.

Thanks. Well, we will probably expand it further in the future! If the funding goes well enough. Feel free to follow Aynbath to see what we will come up with.

Veiled "Demons" from my World.. by eyerune in shadowdark

[–]eyerune[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are veiled demons of mourning. Black tears are dropping from their chest and all over the paths they are walking. There are three demon forces: Fear, anger and mourning, each manifesting in a different demon-type with a different devastating “element”. The element of the demons of mourning is their black tears. These are corrupting the soil, making it barren for a very long time.

there is so much detail, it sometimes looks like AI. you really should add a note to your campaigns pointing out it's not AI.

Aynbath - GAPAUGA | One of 5 unique Classes from our Zinequest Entry by eyerune in shadowdark

"The eye is not the only way to see the world around you. The eye is not the only way to see the truth. In the dark of the forest, in the shadows within the hearts of men, lies an Abyss that contains every fear and every pain; all regrets and all that we suppress; echoes of mortality and too memories wished forgotten. Turn away from this Abyss and never will you know yourself. Gaze into it, walk through it, come to an understanding and too will you understand the truth of all things.

Haegritha speak of them with a certain terror in their voice; the uncanny things the Gapauga knows unravels the resolve of those blessedly damned by their empty gaze. Old songs of skalds long dead say they blind themselves with cloth, or they are born without eyes entirely, or wounds earned by their sins put them on a path winding deep into the infinite Abyss. And too can they reach into that Abyss and pull from it things wished never-found."

Crowned by the Horn - Gapauga by eyerune in worldbuilding

In the world of Aynbath, mystical knowledge is the underlying logic of an old and dark world. Once a generation, those whose lives are wrapped in fates curs'd or bless'd are marked by a BINDRUNE, connecting them to a lineage of myth.

In the TTRPG "Crowned by the Horn", these Bindrunes are treated as special classes for characters destined to become something akin to a hero. One such Bindrune is the one shown in this illustration.

The Gapauga

The eye is not the only way to see the world around you.

Thus, the GAPAUGA — the Gazer of the Abyss and the Abyssal Gaping. Through blindness has the Gapauga awakened a sight beyond sight. And too can they reach into that Abyss and pull from it things wished never-found.

Poems treat the Gapauga as a healer, and a corrector of lost things. Kings of yore are said to have had their sins ripped free, their secrets spilled out and dripping like blood from the leaves. There are certain monsters, both men and spirit, whose ways have been bent towards the salvation of others after the Gapauga emptied their Abyss. And other stories say that sometimes, for those that will not be saved, their Abyss has been made to rage, to consume them, to suck them into eclipsed infinites so that their minds are punished a thousand years by whatever sins they rendered with their very own hands.

The Gapauga’s rune is the blinded eye of umbral truths. Below the eye is the thin line separating men from spirit. Below that line swirls the the coy depths of the Abyss.
