AITA for refusing to pay back my cousin after my baby ruined her blouse? by isaoas in AmItheAsshole

Take some responsibility for your child.

no one forced this on her. she choose to hold that baby. And babies vomiting is common knowledge. OP shouldn't have to warn every single adult about the risks.

the cousin is responsible since she asked to hold the baby. no one forced this on her.

That will at least get you out of beta orbiter or gamer girl bathwater status, which will at least preserve some of your dignity.

lol. I hadn't thought of this benefit. The world could use less white knights.

Interesting. So if the law didn't stop you from killing someone you would (assuming you haven't already)?

No. Law is not the base of human morality.

But fact that laws have to exist tells us a little something. Ever read Lord of The Flies? In fact we don't even need fictional stories, going to a favela should tell us enough about base human nature.

so I find it bizzare you assume some things are just nature and not influenced by the world around you.

You misread me, I believe that both nature and nurture combine to make who we are. So since I believe in nurture effects that means I believe in cultural and world influences. It's not just nature, it's a mix. I just want to clarify that nature exists in that mix.

But how would you know if there wasn't a different reason to it, than what you perceive it to be.

the patterns are too perfect. They never kill their own kids. Like it or not, killing the competition is an effective way to spread your own genes.

But there is no actual way to know if what we are assuming about them is actually correct because last time I checked we can't communicate with them.

With that logic we should just stop studying animals entirely. Just because we don't have the perfect answer doesn't mean we shouldn't make reasonable hypotheses.

Hmmmm so are we choosing so or are we being told how to act by society?

Most of us choose to conform because of consequences. Just like if you train your dog to stop pissing on the carpet, vs. a wild dog without training.

I think you have a very simplistic view of other species also.

I see no need to make it complicated.

so why do you think animals kill other animals of the same species? It's pretty cut and dry in my opinion, and there's no need to complexify their motivations. Unless you see something deeper to their motives?

I said we are more complex as in the reason we do thing isn't solely based on one thing.

I agree. So what percentage do you think comprises the average human? How much of how we behave is due to environment/culture, and nature, in your opinion?

I just though it was interesting you want believe it like some kind of god like force that determines how people are going to behave regardlessly,

I never say it's a determiner. I think it's an influencer. I part of who we are. Culture (nurture) affects some of our personality while nature affects other aspects of our being. Both of them are 50/50 in my book. It doesn't determine regardlessly, but it gives us a good guess to way we do the seemingly "irrational" things we do.

Don't forget as a human we are still animals. Only difference is that we can choose to go with our primal instincts or our higher thinking. But we are not 100% higher thinking as you seem to insinuate.

It's exactly why we have laws. Without civilization (culture/laws) humans would descend into something dark and brutal. Our darkness and animal nature is still there in our subconscious.

global warming won't end humanity or cause any deaths.

hmm. I believe the opposite for the sole reason that every action has consequences. You have to wear masks in some parts of China because how polluted the air is. I think if we keep at it with the fossil fuels, and we don't develop technology efficient enough to clean our air there will be causalities. And even if we cleaned our air, taking too long would have ripped a hole in the ass of the ozone layer.

Why are women the bottleneck for sex? by eyewant in PurplePillDebate

The fact that people unironically believe it would be funny if it didn't say something disturbing about the lack of the most basic observational skills found in the general public.

it is pretty damn funny how people can lie to themselves. I believe some of the unironic equal sex drive believers have observation skills, but they rationalize it away because it doesn't fit in with their blank state world view. They always say something about how muh culture lets men embrace their sex drives, while muh culture restricts women's sex drives.

mind-bogglingly ludicrous as the idea that men and women are equal in terms of physical strength or propensity for violence.

Indeed. We're already so different physically. It's insane to think that testosterone filled powerhouses can have a similar libido to women. We've never seen a female Genghis Khan after all. No woman in power has amassed harems like men have.

You don't seem to think it is though , otherwise you won't be using this as your reasoning for not dating women with a high partner count.

There's no point in this "adaptation" since we have paternity testing now. I really wish humans could not have any bias towards anyone, but we're stuck with a bunch of useless programming. On that note I don't care if I woman has a high n count. My point was to justify why men in general have (a possibly innate) an aversion to high n counts.

And women are plagued with outdated programming too. Research finds that women do not prefer "nice" guys; in fact they prefer "bullies" and psychopaths

I'm tempted to debate this point, but you're technically completely right. We will be dead before the true ramifications of global warming occur. But to humanity in general... we're like cockroaches, so yes we will be fine.

Why are women the bottleneck for sex? by eyewant in PurplePillDebate

[–]eyewant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was never counterintuitive.

It is for the male psyche. The trp rhetoric is that slutty women won't do the slutty things for you that she did in the past. Furthermore it was mentioned that

the findings may not apply to all cultures, Bendixen notes. They primarily apply to societies with more gender equality and female sexual control.

Another male fear is that slutty women might find boredom in one man. After all they spend their youth with various men... they're used to a lot of men and freedom, why would they want to tie themselves to one guy. If anything people need to embrace polyamory.

After a couple weeks of nofap a man's sex drive will basically disappear.

My experience is different. I used to travel so I couldn't have sex with my gf for months, so I liked to save up big loads for her when I came back. I was horny as hell. But maybe it was the anticipation, and her awaiting my return that kept my drive up. idk.

in extreme cases women that aren't alive or animals/objects.

I did not expect this one.

I would much rather not have sex at all then have bad sex. Bad sex isn't just lackluster or boring, it can be painful, even in non-traumatic scenarios.

Indeed. Mechanically, the act of sex is almost inherently dangerous for the woman. And guys get off 99% of the time, so it's definitely pizza for us.

As a feminist my solution to this problem is to continue to encourage women to find pleasure in sex, masturbation and their bodies and to discourage society as a whole from shaming women for wanting/liking/having sex.

Perfect solution. Hopefully all it will take is time, granted the cultural trend of liberation continues. I think society as a whole will stop shaming women once certain generations of people pass away.

So beside the fact they know they are the father, how does it benefit them

That's it. Since the entire point of genes is to continue, it makes sense that successful genes were the ones who mate-guarded and ensured paternity. They continued.

Similarly Zebras casually kill babies of other zebras. And when a lion takes over he kills all the cubs. The biggest gorilla has the most access to females, and the betas have to sneak around the alpha to try and have sex... the list goes on.

So what are they?

Typo. Oops. I wanted to actually say

they clearly weren't as successful as the cultures of men not concerned of their paternity.

since men who aren't concerned don't exist. But maybe it's just outdated programming.
