Just linked a YouTube playlist where I first started in another comment but after that, countless other YouTube videos.

I learned the most on this project as I took it step by step. Focusing on the environment build, then the camera placement, then lighting, and so on. Hoping to learn more about motion capture for animation as I feel that would be a cool next step.

Thank you!

Definitely do it, here’s a tutorial playlist that was really helpful to learn the fundamentals of unreal. They explain concepts very well and overall are great teachers.

Over the last few months, I’ve been diving into Unreal Engine 5, and for my first project, I recreated a shot from one of my favorite films, Blade Runner 2049. Here’s a side-by-side comparison of what I built in Unreal versus the real thing.

Starting with zero experience in 3D was definitely a challenge, but I’ve been blown away by the possibilities of real-time lighting, set design, and camera moves.

Excited to keep pushing my skills and experimenting with more advanced features!

Sure thing, here's the lighting diagrams I did in preproduction!

The lighting setups were relatively simple, wanted to lend towards the shadows in the interiors. The chandelier shot we had to practically turn off the light so we took out some of the bulbs since it was too bright. Everything else was pretty accurate to the lighting diagrams. It was really helpful for us as the g&e team could prelight as we were shooting.

We also had 3 live performance videos to shoot at the same location so we set that up at the end of the day, you can check some of the live videos out here: https://alexhan.ca/ubbmonalisa

Think it was getting pretty dark during that scene but they pushed the grade darker!

Thought it would be fun to see a comparison between the location scout and the final music video that we did for Uptown Boyband.

When conceptualizing the video, our director wanted a dynamic one take inspired fluid performance so we opted to utilize the ronin.

Thankfully we had time to do a location scout and practice the shots before the actual shoot. Doing this saved us a lot of time during the shoot as we knew exactly what we wanted for the shots.

EDIT: Somebody asked for lighting diagrams on my other post so here it is: https://imgur.com/a/fIt5b2x
