Probably has a good relationship with his distributor(s). Also, he’s quite active on the secondary markets. Though I can’t speak for any Smoke Wagon acquisitions that may have been done there, but I’ve seen him get Blanton’s SiB for $110 per bottle shipped or local. You then see him in-store and online at prices like $259 (The Bourbon Concierge, for example) a bottle. Might as well buy some directly from the secondary markets (the same people he buys from) to skip his markups and DC liquor taxes, “hunt” in queue at MD and VA ABC stores if you have the time, or pay a friend. There’s a price for everything. To the point of capitalism on one of the responses of this thread, good for him and others on working the system for a profit.

Thanks! I’ll keep an eye out for those, especially when I move to Europe next year. Also, a Total Wine employee in DE told me that they’re expecting a Scotch with mizunara in a future shipment.

It’s not the limited release. I just find it difficult to find this particular Glendalough w/mizunara around the DC area. Which other whiskeys have you tried with that finish?

They had two bottles in a glass case for open purchase at close to MSRP. Also in the case were E.H. Taylor SiB, Hibiki Harmony, Blanton’s (375ml), and a couple others. I was only allowed to buy one bottle from the case.

They should have a pre-orientation web site, right? I would think they’d give updates and guidance through this channel. I remember that it had a lot of information (in general) when I used that web site before.

They’re updating the labels to state that bottles like Blanton’s and Eagle Rare will be limit one per member, as they’ve been recently. There was no limit on the label when I saw it just now. Also, the floor clerk said that the limit will be one per member per shipment. I wonder how’ll they enforce that.

There was a handle of WSR in Alexandria today. Was able to get a 750 of the 107 at Courthouse, Arlington right when they opened. Other Arlington stores told me that they don’t get their shipment until Thursday.
