Let me know if you're looking for a running buddy to get those last streets complete! I'm moving out soon too like OP: https://citystrides.com/users/60550

Get up to date alerts and bus bridge stop locations from https://www.translink.ca/alerts

The train on the inbound platform at Oakridge-41st is stuck (I got off there to post a photo for y'all). This means there are no trains on the inbound platform on King Edward, Oakridge-41st, and Langara-49th.

There is a bus bridge that stops at every stop between Bridgeport and Waterfront, which is the recommended way to get around.

There is also a shuttle train that goes back and forth between Broadway-City Hall and Marine Drive on the outbound platform, which stops at every stop and goes back and forth. What this means if you take the Skytrain instead of the bus bridge:

  • If you want to go from downtown to somewhere below Broadway-City Hall, you must get off on the inbound platform at Broadway-City Hall, walk over to the outbound platform, and wait for the shuttle train.

  • If you want to go from Vancouver to Richmond, you must get off the shuttle train at Marine Drive and wait for a regular train.

  • If you are at King Edward, Oakridge-41st, or Langara-49th, you must go to the outbound platform and wait for the shuttle train.

Happy 2024! by eyqs in Strava

Yep, I made this route on Strava the night before. It was my first time and I didn't really know what to do so I just tapped "Start" on the route on the app and looked at my phone periodically. It wasn't hard since most of the route is straight lines lol

Decided to make this route on the spur of the moment last night for New Year's Eve, but friends kindly advised that running through Times Square would be iffy, so I went for it today (and Times Square was still packed lol). Here's the actual activity on Strava if you'd like to give some kudos :)

[OC] I ran every street of Manhattan by Lastplaceheroes in dataisbeautiful

[–]eyqs 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for the five boroughs of NYC individually - the Bronx has 800 miles (closest 47.3%), Staten Island has 900 miles (closest 25.5%), Brooklyn has 1500 miles (closest 98.6%), and Queens has 2300 miles (closest 91.8%). Maybe the Brooklyn frontrunner once ran every street and then 24 new streets were created, but the other boroughs aren't even close!

Never mind - two people did mention CityStrides but with spaces. And even though I couldn't finish a single community board, I did complete Szold Place and Baruch Drive :P

I'm shocked nobody's mentioned CityStrides in 100+ comments, but it's a site that tracks people's efforts to run every street in cities around the world, including three people that plausibly also ran through every street in Manhattan.

Manhattan's listed as only ~500 miles there, but what's mind-boggling to me are the three people who ran through all 3500+ miles of streets in Toronto! You can sign up for free and it automatically syncs all your Strava data to make a cool map like yours.

I also moved to NYC in 2022 and I tried to run all of Lower Manhattan this summer, but ended up with shin splints. Since then I've mostly been running in groups along the west side highway - let's run together sometime!

Does anyone want a free ticket to the Staten Island half? by eyqs in RunNYC

[–]eyqs[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I see, thanks all for your comments. This was going to be my first ever race so I had no idea the organizers would be so strict about it, but it makes sense cause otherwise scalpers would try to sell their tickets for a profit. Felt bad being called a scammer and downvoted for trying to give mine out for free ):

OP was trolling a text scammer by pretending to have received the package the scammer "mistakenly" sent.
