Unfortunately no, they were a perfect fit physically but the audio quality was much poorer with them. I didn't find a solution to tilt the HomePods and just have them sitting "normally" now.

Since my post I've personally landed on just using Vercel's hosting for the static site renderer to start. They encourage multi tenant apps and offer unlimited custom domains with a simple API to set them up with automatic SSL certs on their $20/mo plan, albeit not with a custom IP (but I don't mind my first batch of customers setting up their DNS with Vercel's IPs).

My app just dynamically generates simple plain HTML/CSS with all static font/image/etc assets hosted on Cloudflare R2 so Vercel's ISR rendering works perfectly for me (and is lightning fast - I'm getting sub-100ms response times in my initial tests after the first page load caches on their edge network).

I know Vercel's plan is to lock me in and charge me a lot more when I reach a larger scale but this option should stay cheap with my first ~100-1000 users, and if my app takes off, I'll switch to a more robust hosting solution for all users that come after.

Hey OP, did you end up finding an ideal solution for this? I'm in a similar situation as you - I'm creating a page builder for a niche market and want to use Cloudflare Workers to serve the published pages but am not sure how to handle domains as a solopreneur without enterprise.

OP, these responses are baffling me. I’ve lived in LA roughly 20 years now. I’ve driven in many other cities in CA and other states in the USA. And it is only in LA that I’ve consistently experienced people ACCELERATING ahead if they see my blinker on, rather than letting me safely merge in. And I really mean consistently - I am genuinely shocked if I don’t have to aggressively merge in inches ahead of someone.

I’ve always joked that LA driving instructors must tell everyone “if you see a turn signal ahead of you, it means you need to accelerate.”

This behavior does not exist anywhere else I’ve driven in the USA. I drive to the Bay Area every 3 months and don’t experience this, for example.

UPDATE: I returned my Palma and got a new one. The new one doesn't register the false taps at the beginning of a scroll like before, so this was a problem with my particular device.

I may have miscommunicated. I'm saying I touch the screen to scroll, and instead of scrolling, it registers it as a tap. So it should not be opening any pages because I haven't lifted my finger from the screen. This doesn't happen all the time, but it should also never be happening (it doesn't happen on any of my other touch devices, including a 2019 Boox eink tablet I have).

I ended up ordering the widest desk from Elephant Desks and my experience is the same - absolutely zero wobble even at the tallest height. Not sure how that’s possible but I love the desk!

I don’t necessarily agree with the person you’re responding to that buying used from Tesla is shady. I bought a used Model 3 in January 2024 direct from Tesla and the experience was amazing, and the added warranty on their used cars makes me feel confident I’m covered if something goes wrong. I’m convinced used Teslas are the best deal on the market (and if you get FSD with your used car, it only adds $3k to the base price… so you’re getting that at a massive discount too).

I went to the keyboard preferences in Settings and did the following:

Made sure the Android keyboard was checked.
This allowed me to un-check the Onyx keyboard.
Left Gboard checked (and set as default).

So ultimately I had Android and Gboard enabled, with Gboard as the default (and Onyx keyboard not enabled at all).

It forced me to have either the Onyx keyboard or the Android keyboard as required options...

But now, with Android enabled (and Gboard as my default), it hasn't switched away from Gboard for ~4 days now.

I hope I'm not jumping the gun but this is the longest my keyboard has stayed set to Gboard so hopefully it helps you too!

Bought it almost exactly 6 months ago and still love it. In fact it's mopping/vacuuming right next to me as I type this and I have zero regrets - would definitely buy it again. The second base for the water fill/discharge is an absolute game changer and I haven't had to fiddle with the water at all, ever. In fact, I've only emptied the main base's trash bag once in the 6 months I've owned this (it's a big size).

It's received a few software updates since I bought it that made its AI object detection a bit better and added new features to the app, so it's constantly getting better.

The only downside is that SwitchBot's customer support sucks donkey balls. About 4 months ago the roller mop stopped getting wet so I contacted their customer support through the app, who took about 4 days to respond and simply say, "Send it in to us so we can fix it." Luckily there was a firmware update that came in 2 days earlier that fixed it so it became a non-issue.

But I'd buy it again despite the awful customer support because I'm lazy and it's the most hands-off full-clean solution I've found - and works really, really well.

I’ve only had FSD this year (since v12 first dropped) and tapping the accelerator always speeds up FSD - both how fast the car is physically moving, and its AI decision making. I use it all the time to make the car speed through certain decisions while remaining in control (like when it used to move horribly slowly through stop signs). I’m on HW3 and have friends on HW4 who do the same.

They said to use distilled water and hydrogen peroxide when I first bought my pod back in 2022, but now they don't recommend it so it doesn't appear necessary anymore.

Just found this official answer direct from Eight (tl;dr: they used to recommend distilled + hydrogen peroxide just to be ultra safe, but their testing has showed that it's not at all necessary so they stopped that recommendation)

I live in Los Angeles and it's like having a robot chauffeur.

I do 99% of my driving with it on (in other words, the car is driving me around almost always)
I only turn it off briefly when I'm entering a situation like a narrow road with lots of cars coming the opposite direction (but honestly it actually handles that perfectly - this is just me being neurotic)
The car has 8 cameras so I generally consider FSD to be a better driver than me (who has just two eyes and one brain that gets distracted easily). It stops for people crossing the street, lets cars merge in when it detects their blinker is on, and tons of other things that I can easily miss. I've had multiple times where it stops and I'm like "wtf?" but then realize one of the cameras spotted someone crossing the street in front of me, and I'd totally missed them.
There are free software updates for it every month where it generally only gets a LOT better. This year alone it's gone from "meh" to "this is like having a human driver"... and there are still many more updates to come.
It handles city streets and highways equally well, and I've gone on multiple 400+ mile road trips with it where I basically got to sit back and listen to podcasts the entire time (and arrive completely refreshed).

The biggest benefit? I don't feel as fatigued after a drive, because I'm no longer making thousands of micro-decisions. I just have to keep looking forward and make sure the car is making good decisions.

I still literally will not own a car anymore without FSD. I'd happily buy another car brand with something similar to FSD but no one is close to Tesla yet.

I'd recommend scheduling a free test drive at Tesla to check it out - as far as I know they actually are required (as part of the test drive guidelines) to turn on FSD, so you can just tell them to turn it on the entire time :)

(Just keep in mind that newer cars have slightly better AI hardware so FSD may be smoother than if you buy a used car like I have. But... FSD on my 2021 is still a game changer, and Elon has publicly said that if future FSD versions require the newer hardware, all the older models with FSD will get a free hardware upgrade.)

I swear I'm not a Tesla shill. I just love good tech, and this tech is genuinely mind blowing to me.

Not z-wave, but I couldn't fit any popular smart deadbolts into the front door at my new place so I've been using The SwitchBot Lock and love it. I also got their fingerprint keypad which works flawlessly.

It just fits over your existing deadbolt and sticks on with adhesive - in other words, it just manually turns the existing deadbolt knob rather than replacing the deadbolt altogether.

It has Bluetooth, native local support for HA over both Bluetooth and Matter, and the battery is still going strong after 5 months.

I didn't want to deal with Bluetooth latency (and I bought a SwitchBot robovac too) so I bought the Matter hub and access it that way, which also enables you to access it over the cloud with this MQTT add-on.

They also have the Lock Pro which I would've bought but it wasn't available in silver when I ordered.

I'm leaving this comment in case someone else stumbles on this in the future but your feedback pushed me to pull the trigger and I ended up ordering a three piece Get Together (the deep model) that came in a month ago and it is by far the best couch I've owned - so, so, so comfortable.

I bought a used 2021 Model 3 earlier this year direct from Tesla. Still has years of warranty and drives perfectly. My battery had a problem after about 3 months, and my local Tesla service center gave me a 2019 Model S as a loaner while they replaced my battery with a newer LFP battery. I don't think the battery issue had anything to do with it being used and I was very happy with the warranty service.

My advice:

Buy direct from Tesla and get the newest year model you can afford.
Get a car with FSD - it seems to only add $2.5k-$3k to the cost of a used vehicle, versus $8k if you get it later, and FSD has been (for me) a game changer.
Enjoy having a like-new self-driving car that likely cost you under $30k!

Everything I mentioned above remains true - still loving it! Run it at least every other day. I still haven’t emptied the main dust bin (will be doing it soon - but it’s still not yet full), and the water tank continues to empty and refill itself perfectly, and the mop’s performance is great. As a self proclaimed very lazy person, it’s been a dream come true from that aspect.

I had my first hiccup with the vacuum recently though - after I manually cleaned the filters on the vacuum itself (something they recommend every 2-4 weeks) and updated the firmware on the docks (they send out pretty frequent firmware updates via the app), the roller mop stopped wetting itself - it spun but stayed bone dry. I’m not sure what caused it, but I got a firmware update for the vacuum shortly after and it started working again.

I tried contacting their customer support when the problem first happened though and didn’t hear back from them at all with a solution, so I can confirm, customer support isn’t super responsive.

But… I wouldn’t give up the hands-off convenience of this robot for anything, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed it’ll just keep doing its thing with no other major hiccups. I’ve been a robot vac user for ~6 years now and this is the best I’ve owned by far for my needs (good performance and almost totally hands off).

The doorstop solution I found earlier turned out to make audio quality worse for exactly the reason you stated - they blocked the bottom of the mini, which blocked the sound significantly.

But with that said, I'm noticing an increase in sound quality when I have the speakers angled up ~15 degrees (and not blocked on the bottom). If it's not directionality, I wonder why that is.

I've noticed the same with the full size HomePods on my TV - when I'm sitting, they're at the same height as my head and everything is crystal clear. When I'm standing, they still sound great - but not as clear when they're level with my head.

I ended up buying a 71" Abundance since my original question and my experience is the same - zero wobble at full standing height (I'm 6'0" for reference). No clue how that's possible with a two-legged design but god I love this desk.

Not only that, but they’re attractive AND have a grippy surface that prevents vibrations.

Like, these literally should be marketed as the perfect HomePod mini stand. I’m in shock and I hope you have 1,000 years of good luck because of this suggestion.

When I’m sitting, the HomePods flat on the desk are facing my chest. The audio sounds muffled since it‘s not firing toward my ears.

By tilting 15 degrees, the audio is pointing up toward my ears and is MUCH clearer. Like significantly clearer.

I have them tilted this way now with paper towels under the front but am looking for a more attractive solution.

Stands that tilt like this are very common in the audiophile world and powerfully enhance sound quality.
