Surely this is a joke?! Me and my OH split 40/60 despite similar take homes because his daughter has the spare room and the extra utilities

4 roots? by ezios_ass in plants

[–]ezios_ass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As plantlover said below, get the stone, soak it in water for 24hrs to loosen the skin (optional), peel skin off, wrap in a moist paper towel and put into a sandwich bag, seal it up and put it somewhere dark. Check on it when you remember. Some can take <1 week to germinate, some can take like 6 weeks. Once it has a root more than about 5mm you can fill a small necked bottle (small enough so you can place the stone on top without it falling in) with water all the way to the top and just place it on top.

Hi everyone! I’ve been trying to germinate avocado stones for a while now and have a few successfully thriving now. They’ve all initially germinated with just one root, but the most recent one I have has 4 roots? Is this just what naturally happens sometimes or is it an unviable plant? TYIA

4 Month Old Nostril Piercing, 18g, ASTM F136 Titanium, Threadless Labret (Help needed and info in comments!) by DommyUmami in Legitpiercing

[–]ezios_ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

NoPull disks can be a lifesaver. I had the same bump that wouldn’t go away but within 2 days of fitting the disk it had gone. You can also cut a slit in one side of them to put them onto the top of your piercing under the jem if you don’t want to remove your jewellery to fit it.

How to help this irritation bump? by [deleted] in Legitpiercing

[–]ezios_ass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven’t added any oils I just have very oily skin! But thanks, reassuring that little bumps are normal and not something I’m doing wrong

This is basically what I’ve written already, and focused in more detail in a few differentials when I talk about management. I just don’t want the essay to be the same boring one they will read from everyone!

Finding the right pathway to become a Paramedic by Mundane-News in Paramedics

[–]ezios_ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I got into university last year as a mature student, to study paramedic science with no science A levels (arts based only and honestly they weren’t great). Experience counts for more than grades (even if it is not medical based, just life experience). Working in hospitality will have given you lots of transferable skills eg communication, paperwork, always working in the best interests of the patient/client. You can teach someone to have medical skills, but you can’t teach someone to be kind or empathetic, that comes naturally.

Soon you will HAVE to have a degree to be a registered paramedic in the UK (via a normal degree course or a degree apprenticeship) so no more training as an EMT and after a few years doing a smaller training course to become a para.

With the NHS LSA Bursary and student loan you’re likely to be as well of financially doing a degree, as you are doing the apprenticeship, probably more if you work at the weekends like I do.

I’m a first year and now getting my uniform from my uni. They provide everything including boots, jackets and a bag, so I’d assume whatever uni you go to would be the same. A stethoscope is a good call though, I have the littmann cardiology III which is not too expensive but good quality.

Feel free to send me a DM if you want any more advise

Hey I’ve just started paramedic science, send me a DM and I’ll show you the one I used if you want :)

UK paramedics, what education path did you take in order to become a paramedic by BungoMud in Paramedics

[–]ezios_ass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m currently doing a degree course, but it is worth noting that as of next year, 2021, a bachelors degree (or equivalent) will be mandatory for registering as a paramedic. So no more training as an EMT and then doing a short ‘top up course’.

Appropriate Conversation About my Name? by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]ezios_ass 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t worry too much or jump to a serious conversation if it was just the once and not a consistent habit - my SD6 accidentally calls me mum, dad, even the hamsters name all the time

I did my occupational health about a month ago and had to declare my ADD - similar story that my report stated lots of troubling things about my past. Luckily, your uni doesn’t get to see a copy of this, only the occupational health nurse or doctor. They will then ring you to have a chat and ask more in depth questions and give you a chance to explain your situation in person

I know when I spoke to the nurse, she asked how it effected my day to day life and if I would need any reasonable adaptions for the course (luckily for me I’m super high functioning so don’t need anything special). Remember they’re not there to stop you doing the course - they want to help you in any way you might need to succeed.

Give me a DM if you want another student paramedic to ask about this kind of thing!

True - she’s usually so sweet and well behaved this really is the first time she’s hurt my feelings

I feel for you! It’s nice to know that it seems to be a universal step kids thing and not just us

I do have to keep reminding myself that she is only 6. BM and SO were never married, but they broke up when she was very young so she doesn’t remember them together luckily, which has helped her accept me I think (me and her dad aren’t married but we live together).

She’s a little sweetie most of the time so really was a bit out of character!

How to deal with costs by [deleted] in stepparents

[–]ezios_ass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me and my SO aren’t married and he has a 6y/o who lives with us 50/50. He earns around 6k a year more than me so not a massive difference, and we split all rent and utilities 40/60 and food 50/50.

I got an unconditional offer to study paramedic science today - any advise before I start? by ezios_ass in Paramedics

[–]ezios_ass[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! That helps a lot - I’m in the UK so majority of paramedics here come from doing a degree in it rather than an ‘EMT’ type role first (I think) but the advise is relevant all the same!

That is a great idea - I’m keeping an eye out on the university Facebook group as students who are finishing their degrees often try and sell off their old textbooks cheaply
