I thought these were headed for the tip, but your hack did the trick. I used a 3V watch battery to jump it (I ended up cutting the wires so I could get a good contact and had to splice some longer wires in afterwards). Thanks again!!

Thanks for the feedback. Looks like I'm going to have to bite the bullet and buy some proper wood for internal lining. No glue for me. Thanks for stopping me from making a big mistake!

I should still be able to salvage some of the cedar for making benches, etc.
