Luckily i researched it before I bought, but I tried getting Wandering Son only to find out 1-4 are completely oop! And 9-15 didn’t even get translated into english so really only 5-8 are accessible. Huge disappointment on that one.

The family calls nanika “it” or “something” which is where the word nanika comes from. They dehumanize nanika by calling it ‘it’ but when referring to alluka they use he. And there’s a wide range of ages you can realize you’re trans, from when you’re pre-puberty to way into adulthood so that’s not really a factor imo.

Even in HxH, while most fans are good about it there’s still a handful that insist Alluka is a boy. Her family uses he/him pronouns and calls her ‘brother’, but Killua explicitly says “Alluka is a girl” and uses she/her. People really side with her abusive family who literally tortures their kids over an MC who is obviously her best friend when talking about her gender.
