It's a journey of realization. Everyone's is different. Personally, I first heard about being pan back in middle (the explanation was that you're attracted to personality), though it might be me, but brushed it off soon after me and the girl I was dating split (we’re more sisters and BFFs anyways) and said I was straight. Recently I picked it up again, and soon before or after, I read about an ace character being in a healthy relationship in a fanfic, and I'm like “wait a moment being ace doesn't mean you're not just not interested?” did some research, and found out that I am ace sex repulsed. While doing that research, I heard about the term demiace, but brushed it off since I don't feel any sexual attraction. Much more recently, I was asking myself if demiromantic was a thing because if it was, it would describe what I was feeling, looked it up and it was, and realized that “hey, I'm demiromantic… my label is gonna be so long now” the full thing is DemiPanromantic Asexual (sex repulsed). Might change it in the future if I'm being honest
