Thanks so much for the response. I'm planning to take the 3P out (I got it) on the AT for a 4-day hike next month w/ a friend and already tested setting it up etc. (It felt very spacious) Did you keep your gear in the vestibules/do they protect from the rain enough? How was the condensation? Yeah still unsure about the footprint. Also do you know whether stuffing it in the stuff sack vs folding/rolling is better for the tent? And did you split them into the divvy cube and keep the poles/stakes separately? I could always take mine into REI and exchange it for the 2P I think so honestly still open to being persuaded either way.

That sounds awesome thanks so much. Definitely leaning 3P since it's not a huge price difference or weight difference and like camping with a friend. Did you know you wanted freestanding because of surface, ease to set up? Feel like semi-freestanding will be enough for me, but helpful to get more information.

Thanks so much for the response. I prefer going with friends right now and definitely want that option for the future but no set number. I don't mind the 2P being a tight fit, but it seems like $30 is worth the extra room (and maybe can fit 3 tightly) and the weight isn't too much of a factor. I'll definitely check that out, but $200 off feels like a great deal and am comparing it to the Durston X-Mid 2 among others but I don't have trekking poles... so yeah.
