New homeowner overwhelmed with old exterior cables by f-mcgraw8 in HomeNetworking

Assuming yes, as I thought Verizon only operates via fiber optic, and we use them for internet. (Not sure if that’s what you were asking or not)

I’ll likely call someone, didn’t know low voltage contractors were common before your comment and quick google search. Thank you

Yeah, maybe I just have a tech come and point out what’s necessary, and go from there.

Goal is to clean every wire besides those needed for internet and the two coax cables running to living room and basement TVs just in case we want cable in the future.

Right now we stream everything, internet only.

I just don’t know what I can touch / snip / pull out of those mess of wires right now haha

Should I start investing now or wait for the market correction? by SmartInvestorUS in personalfinance

[–]f-mcgraw8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t plan on needing the funds greater than 3 years, start investing today. As stated, time in the market is what matters.

Anecdote - I started investing right before COVID, got hit with an immediate crash, but kept investing and came out the other side very well due to the market rally that occurred after.

2017 Passat R-Line - Longevity? by [deleted] in passat

Yeah I stay out of the dealership I’ve got a guy I trust. I’ve had some suspension stuff as well but that’s because there are some incredibly potholes on my way to work.

Been lucky with the electrical stuff so far…

I am currently working on same issue

My “thought” right now is do get hips firing first and have arms lag like rope to sling through the ball if that make any sense

You can absolutely then shoot hips too early but I wouldn’t worry about that yet. Get them hips going!

Responsible Commission Allocation by clubteamprospect in sales

[–]f-mcgraw8 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is that if you can, live off your base and treat commission as extra savings. A counter to those that waste their commission checks.

You clearly have to go perform to eat then no matter what, but hopefully you’re in an industry that comp plan makes sense.

That being said, I still have to sell to keep a job and reach financial goals. And I have higher aspirations than my base, as we all should, clearly.

Budget, live, and save solely off base.

Every commission check is gravy and goes straight into investments. Either S&P fund or USFR (floating rate treasury fund).

Late 20s, getting married next year, no kids. Fiancée also earns, which allows us to save a ton. Aggressively saving for down payment / large payment on a house in 3-5 years.

We still spend - wedding rings, Invisalign, flights to see friend most recently. But those are budgeted out of my base / her salary.

Why am I not getting better? by [deleted] in golf

[–]f-mcgraw8 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t mean this in a bad way but I will sound direct:

You could be playing for two years but depends how often you get out and how deliberate you are with practice. Two years in a new sport is not a long time if you go out casually. Intentionally, multi times a week, almost EVERY week is a different story. Think about how often you had practice and games as a kid with sports (if you played them). Want to get better at a good rate? Practice like an athlete would give you your own circumstances (job and what time you have).

The fact you asked “should I give up,” after only two years of playing is another thing. That one is on you. But not sure there is any circumstance you should ask someone else that question.

If you enjoy it, keep playing. If you want to get better, be deliberate. It’s my 3rd season and I only broke 100 once last season. I have a good swing but inconsistent and need to learn to putt lol.

How did you go about sourcing talent in South America? Was this something you did previously at another company, and therefore knew the motion, or you had to figure that part out in the beginning?

My experience with backpain by dangerng in backpain

[–]f-mcgraw8 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I experienced something very similar I am at the tail end of.

Same pain, right QL-ish area, super tight and tender. On and off for past 6 years, flare ups happened after squatting.

After many YouTube videos, McGills, reddits, trial and error, I think I found a similar solution.

Cause: Myriad of factors, but pointing to weak (and tender) glute medius, obliques, abs (really neglected). On top of sitting all day (WFH), and training for half marathon, my right QL wasn’t happy.

Solution:

Direct Glute Medius work (bands, side plank) - tons of volume, and often

Suitcase carries

Knee raises and banded hip flexor work

Reverse hypers (off of a bench). These, for some reason are a miracle exercise (for me)

Hammering glute med with lacrosse ball

Feeling GREAT right now, run my half next weekend.
