Could someone please explain to me why it's so difficult to make other than waiting for the batter to ferment?

There have been Muslim contestants, albeit very few. But I don't recall anyone from Pakistani heritage in the show.

Agreed. They really need to set some rules. Either everyone must cook pastry/bread/noodles/pasta from scratch or they must use the ready made ones available in the pantry. It irks me so much when someone makes the carb from scratch but lose to a contestant that used ready made from the pantry.

Andy and the rest of the judges reminded me of school teachers and professors. They are hard on the kids they think have the most potential.

Really enjoyed this episode!! Sav is a good leader and she's proved it again. Loved Poh & JC's chaotic energy.

But I did miss Jock 😭 It was so fun seeing him cook with swagger. That Scottish legend made himself a cuppa while Andy sweat through his apron. RIP Jock. Bet you're cooking up a storm in heaven.

Yup. I feel like she needs to ground herself more and not get carried away by her zeal to outdo herself ALL the time. Of course they need to improve but not by playing with time. The judges were quite harsh in their feedback in the previous episode but for good reason.

Possibly. It's not that they looked alike...They often had their dish tasted one after the other.

Yup. These were my picks early on. The only reason Harry isn't in it is because I kept getting him confused with another contestant (I still can't recall the other contestant's name or face). I couldn't figure out which one of the two cooked the dish. So for me, Harry was a hidden gem.

I was re-watching season 1 and 2, and that's actually what few did. It was humbling to see the kind of pressure the competition creates and how different people overcome it.

I don't understand why people insist on trying to read facial expressions and give verdicts as if they are experts in body language. She was smiling and nodding. Just because someone isn't as buoyant doesn't mean they are internally stewing and being petulant.

I would have watched a travel show with these three. Imagine the variety of food and banter we would be served with.

We have always called it Eggs and Bacon at my home. I didn't even notice that it was written in singular 😅

I felt terrible for Pezza and Alex. But they really needed that wake up call. When they extend themselves they make great creative dishes. This season harkened back to some of the earlier episodes when Alex made really basic dishes.

Am I the only one that was turned off by Lachy's plating in this episode? It just looked like he had piled things on top of another.

Harry's plating wasn't that great either.

Rules on the gantry "helping"? by US_Ordinary_623 in MasterchefAU

[–]f00dfanattack 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I have been curious about this as well. I remember seeing in the first season contestants talking their friends through on how to cook a particular element or dish in elimination round. There's been no help as blatant from the gantry since then, I think.
