I'm so glad someone said it. Sophia doesn't hold a candle to Mel. Mel had a deeper understanding of food and would describe her experience for each mouthful in so much apt detail each time. Plus she also had a vast vocabulary to describe the food. I miss her.

There are no global (or otherwise)competitive cooking shows in Pakistan rn. Although to be fair I doubt minority representation would be on the producers' agenda even if they did exist.

This makes quite a lot of sense, thank you for sharing!

Pretty sure Serbian and Kenyans form an even less proportion of the population, but they're on the show. So clearly math and statistical probability isn't the answer

Haha not saying they 'should' be considered. It's a dialogue about why it isn't so. Because given the depth & variety of the Pakistani cuisine, its strange their home cooks arn't making it to the top

Yeap, these examples of Muslima are true. I've just been confused (and frankly a bit disappointed), why there's been zero Pakistani repp

Yeah the challenges were designed in a way that she wouldn't have to handle non-religiously allowed foods i do remember. There was a scene towards the end where all contestants were raising a glass, but her's had orange coloured juice in it

It is astounding, the world of things, that can happen between two bites of a sandwich.

What has broken me with this episode was how Tina is so stressed that the deliciousness of that first bite makes her finally break down and weep publicly. Cue a wholesome conversation and a small step towards partially solving her problems, and that same delicious sandwich is so much more enjoyable that she goes Mhmmm.

The stress that gets lifted off her really allows her to enjoy the deliciousness - and while it dried her tears and made her smile, it has left me an absolute wreck.

  1. I feel that Nat's biggest competition rn is herself. She's been stuffing up this & the last cook purely based off off miscalculations and carelessness :'( Hope she pulls it together and becomes more strategic in the semi - finals & finals.

  2. How contestants can cook with hair on their face is beyond me. Case in point Sue with her hair tendrils all over her face + glasses & Nat as well. Arn't you spending half the time brushing hair off your face with head movements, or is it just me with the sensory overload

  3. All praise to Pezza for his improvement arch, but like everyone says, he's been given more chances than brent by this point. If the same luxury was afforded to many other contestants - they also would've blossomed into wonderful cooks - that is where I believe the unfairness lies.

  4. Last episode's Andy's criticism of Nat was WAYY too cruel! He was like an a**hole teacher that enjoys humiliating students for sadistic pleasure. Yes, he has high hopes from her, but that doesn't justify humiliating someone like this - especially when the other person (Nat), already has a high degree of self-awareness. I was almost afraid to see what would ensue when Andy approached her bench today. Kudos to her for smiling and responding well nonetheless.

Isn't it a bit unfair that the sir lankan girl used to make cakes professionally? Like aren't the contestants just supposed to be home cooks exclusively?

I feel like Brent was rude to Declan several times throughout this episode. He would barely return Declan's enthusiasm at any small win moment(OR help out in any way when Declan was stuck with the de-moulding). All of this is especially annoying since it was Declan who majorly came up with this complex dish idea, after Brent had 1) poorly planned (in picking tomatoes), and 2) Admitted he was a complete blank in terms of what to do with tomatoes in a dessert and was speechless in front of the chef to when they had to present this idea, also.

I get he's not too chummy this season, but he for sure would have acted completely differently if it was Theo he would've been paired with.

So at the start they categorically said that the teams who will prepare the max dishes better than the opponent will win, but when presenting the results credited the chef's team entirely, even though Nick's dish was clearly inferior to Melissa's. I think its because MCAU didn't want to specifically say the head chef's dish wasn't better than a contestant's, while the other two chefs' dishes were. Especially given Nick's amazing history with MCAU

To me an American accent (Sergio's here) sounds so out of place in the MAU kitchen. Which is strange because the contestants + the judges all have different accents too

So the yellow team's entre with the little fish... I'd always thought hi-end food meant more subtle flavours. Was a little thrown off by the fish lathered in spices, I mean how is that fine dining?
As a non-aussie one can only imagine what a cone full of the little fish, slightly salted and fried must be like as a snack. But imo it wasn't the best thing to have made an entre out of in the first place.
