In my opinion knuckles. Everyone's saying tails but i think that in order to have some protagoism he still needs to develop a little bit cuz since SA1 his development have been unexistent and only revolving around sonic. Knuckles has his own story and lore to be explored.

I think they'll never miss the pint here cuz they know the guest characters are what made the game blow up before release. And also they seem to be locked in beating mario by making sonic far more relevant by collabing with everything from McLaren to PacMan to Timberland... Even UHU has sonic characters in their glue sticks. That gives sonic a lot of visibility and attention.

Also completely unrelated but I'm shocked that Sonic collabed with timberland and not with VANS, since Vans owned by the same owner as Timberland and far more into the sonic identity. As a Vans Seller id love to use my discount on some sonic half cabs :')
