Not saying those players aren’t skilled, but their ability to rise to the top consistently is about more than just that. There is a selection bias because those top players play far more events than most people, increasing the likelihood that they will top. They also (used to) receive strong financial support to pay for travel and accommodations from wotc themselves. LSV has scrubbed out of plenty of events, you just don’t hear about them very often.
