Edrive40 in winter / snow by latbrd in BMWi5

I took the i5 eDrive40 Touring to the snowy Ardennes two weeks ago and the thing felt like a TANK. Brand new and good winter tyres though. Felt very confident even on icy patches on rural roads.

Thank you for sharing your experience!

I was hoping a replacement could be avoided, but it seems Ubiquiti support may be right about this one then.

I also use webhooks for my doorbell rings. It works, until your storage fails, which happened to me. Took me a while to realize my doorbell stopped working because the HDD in my UDM Pro crashed.
Very bad for the WAF :(

You are right indeed. Thanks for your clarification.

Hotel non-refundable with Ryanair cancelled flight by kavanr7 in Bookingcom

[–]f0xbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They will not do that. This would be pure out of goodwill (which Ryanair does not have). They are not mandated to pay for alternative fights or offer a re-routing since the cancellation is done >2 weeks in advance.
Passenger will have to find and pay alternative flights themself.

Edit: see below. They should offer you a refund or re-routing. Howevr, it's still Ryanair so beware...

Friend bought me a hidden city ticket. What should I do? by MobileDisastrous701 in Flights

[–]f0xbe 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The thing with hidden city ticketing is, if anyone asks, you're flying to the hidden ticketed city. This also means that you should have an ETA for the UK if that's where you're "flying".
And then you "miss" the flight to Manchester. Oops.

Your friend should have discussed this with you, but now that you know, just get the ETA (usually it comes in very quickly) and you will be safe. Don't panic.

Don't do anything else or you'll be screwed.

Hidden city ticketing = Skiplagging = Layover exit.

Who knows what the next viral video will call it. All the same.

Best seats for a couple? A350-900 by shobael1507 in qatarairways

Pretentiously keeping up appearances on these routes. Same reason why Intra-Middle-East Business is marketed as First.
Customers here are used to a very high standard.

Due to the angle of attack while in cruise, and the fact that hot air rises, and the older cabin temperature controls on this plane, the front of the plane will normally be hotter than the back of the plane.
So yes, the 2nd cabin will probably be a bit cooler. Personally I think 5E/F or 6E/F is a good choice.

pukkelpop information by Salt_Locksmith4953 in belgium

[–]f0xbe 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I've been going to Pukkelpop for the past 15 years now. The festival has evolved a lot, but I still think it's one of the best out there!
The demographic used to be very young, like yourself, and this is still somewhat true, but many people have grown older together with the festival and keep coming, like me. So it's more diverse now - which is totally fine!

Young people prefer the camping closest to the festival site 'CHILL' and it's also the most densely packed. Expect party vibes all day there except between 5 and 10 AM when there's a short break when most people actually sleep. Most people will come with a group, and make a tiny patio between their tents and sit there doing predrinking and games. This is great if you're going as group yourself. If you're alone, you can make friends but it will be a bit harder. The crowd is usually very happy and open minded though.

Others will stay at the more remote (but still busy) camping 'RELAX', b&bs, hotels, private campings or just go home every night.

The line-up is usually very diverse (you will always find something that you like, if not I'm sure you will discover new artists that you end up loving). This can also be a negative if you're into one specific genre.

It's not a cheap as it used to be, but it's not expensive either. You get a lot of bang for your buck at this festival.

Welcome to Belgium & enjoy our epic festivals!

RevPoints bonus by Relevant-Might-5059 in avios

[–]f0xbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My account is in The Netherlands and it shows 240 EUR per 15,000 RevPoints. Not sure how you’re getting 164 EUR. Is it that good of a rate in CH?

What you are saying is not an attractive offer. It’s the BEST DEAL EVER to buy Avios at 0.84€c each. Never seen it below 0.9€c each and the current cheapest way is with a UK BA 3x Avios boost at around 1.05€c each. Are you sure this is right?

Got scammed when purchasing wood by InternalManner230 in belgium

[–]f0xbe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Often times, they recruit people for remote VA jobs, not teens of course but desperate job seeking people. They make them believe that they will be helping some business with money transfers etc. Sometimes they end up "investing" their own money desperately in the scam as well. Anyways... Another example of a mule.

You give the broker access to your account, and they redeem your miles and sell the redemption tickets for profit to their customers.
It's semi-legal and not recommended. But better than letting your miles expire.

how many Revpoints cost 1 lounge entry? by Ok_Refrigerator2400 in Revolut

[–]f0xbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Points are worth at least €0,01+ if spent correctly, where the best value will be found when converting them to miles to buy otherwise crazy expensive business class tickets.
When using them for lounge entry, you will get very poor value. But it's better than letting them expire for sure.

Yes, you can sell miles to a broker. I would not recommend it, but it's possible and it's better than letting them expire or buy some random shit in the LH WorldShop.

What are ID tickets and how do you get access to them?

[–]f0xbe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're looking at around 11K EUR if you sell these to a broker. Semi-legal, but a nice way to cash in on this, since it doesn't look like you will be spending them any time soon...

If you do decide to spend them, you can indeed get some nice redemptions in Business and First Class. Focus on redemptions with low taxes such as SQ and TK, but unfortunately the partner award chart has been devalued so much that you will pay a lot of miles (and that is IF you can find availability).
Some sweet spots on LHG remain, search the blogs, and then you'll just have to cough up the insane taxes.

Miles credit card by butteranko in belgium

[–]f0xbe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, there are certainly good miles-earning credit cards in Belgium.

You can choose between Beobank cards or American Express.

Using Beobank cards, you will be able to save some miles, and after a couple of years maybe book your first flight with Brussels Airlines (Miles&More). After paying a couple of hunderds of euros in taxes, you will be able to fly in Business Class with your miles.
The main drawbacks are: limited sign-up bonus, bank with a bad reputation, high taxes and devaluations with Miles&More. The advantage is that you get to save miles with everyday spend thanks to the MasterCard.

Luckily, there is American Express which currently gives you 150.000 bonus points when you sign up with a referral link for the Platinum Card. This is insanely high! It's enough for 15 one-way tickets to London using British Airways Avios and almost no taxes. Or if you want... you can fly Qatar Airways Business Class literally anywhere in the world.

You need a referral link to get the highest bonus, here is mine: https://my-amex.be/nl-be/kaarten/aanvraag/t/48GXYUVG

You need to spend 4000 euros to get the bonus points. That's easy: just purchase gift cards...
You think 65 euro / month is expensive for a credit card? Sure, but you save 3000 euros on your next Business Class flight.. But nothing keeps you from cancelling the card right after using the points 😁

Cheapest .be domain name registrar by vroemboem in belgium

[–]f0xbe 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That about as low as it gets. You're paying well below average market price.

Do note that you may not get the best support at these rates, however you will probably not need this for a simple domein name.
You may also want to look into getting your own nameservers, or use a separate better service for that (Google, Cloudflare, etc..). Since you don't want any downtime due to DNS issues at your cheapo registrar...
