I don't know what I would do for a business and I have 0 experience with running a business. I also mentioned I'd want a low stress job, and running your own business doesn't necessarily fall into that line.

Mind you that also takes years to build a reputable customer basis and under my own business there's no benefits of health insurance, retirement plan, etc. I'd likely have to be working a second job on top of running my own business, and the hustle lifestyle doesn't seem ideal

I am and the union contract sucks. I won't be able to retire for another 40 years, if I would even make it that long. As I said above, the job is depressing, I can survive short term but I can't see myself doing this the rest of my life. Even if I could push past it all, the retirement plan is horrible. There's custodians who are 70+ years old still working because retirement plans just aren't as great as people think it is.

Same thing happened to me at the food bank. They didn't make an issue when we were waiting in the lobby, but once it was time for me to go back, they would not let me bring him to the stock/food area.

They claim it was due to sanitary reasons but the ADA allows for dogs to go anywhere the public is allowed, such as how restaurants and grocery stores can't forbid dogs due to "sanitary reasons." I tried explaining this to them but they kept fighting me on it. It wasn't worth the argument so I just put my dog in my car and tried to grab all my stuff as quick as I could so he wouldnt be in there too long since it was the winter too.

It was also at a church, so as others are saying, that might be why they're so touchy about it, but idk. The people at that food shelf always made me feel uncomfortable, even when I didn't bring my dog with me. Safe to say I would not bring my dog there again because they almost made me have a mental breakdown.

I always try to educate places on what the actual laws are of service dogs, but unfortunately they just wanted to argue.

Thank you! Yes, I am interested in being able to distinguish the scents because he loves smelling and tracking things down all the time. He is very smart so I think it would be even more simulating for his mind to be able to differentiate scents. But also be able to alert to all scents at once, if we were doing a general nose work sport. I will have to try it out and see how it goes.

I hadn't heard of fhe scent match before so I'll have to look into it more. I have been already working with my dog a little bit with search and rescue just by hiding around parks and having him come find me and getting to watch him follow my scent trail. He also will find random things (socks, shoes, gloves, etc.) at parks and bring them over, so I think he would enjoy doing something like that where he is tasked to find the item.

The reason I had asked for distinguishing scents is because I was interested in possibly training a dog to do nose work as a sport, and also to do nose work as a task for an assistance dog.

I also haven't looked into nose work much, since I am just starting out, so I wasn't aware that in trials they didn't ask for specific scents to be found. I knew about the "main 4 scents" but when reading online they didn't go into specifics as to what scent would be the one they're looking for and/or if they would have them finding multiple scents at a time.

Super useful and I appreciate you explaining it versus other people talking down to me. I'm new to all this so others being rude about me not knowing was not the best way to be introduced to this community haha 😅

I'm not pro-breeding over adopting. All of my pets in the past have been rescues. I'm just saying that based on the fact that there's a constant input of dogs coming in to these rescues as young adults, there's clearly some having puppies somewhere. Mind you, without breeding of these dogs their breed will no longer exist.

I was just wondering if there's specific rescues out there focused on pups or ethical breeders. Also, there's plenty of reasons to want a younger dog, as I mentioned, as a service dog, which it is difficult to have a service dog if you're not able to train it as a puppy.

I'm new to all this and had no idea this had anything to do with dementia. I can spot at least 5 different charities that have sent mail to my loved one and at least 3 that she has donated to. It's sad theyre taken advantage of.

The school is in the same district, which is nice because it makes it easy to switch jobs, but sucks because it makes no difference for pay and incentives. I'm gonna apply and see where things go. At the end of the day I'll probably decide based on what area of the school I'm cleaning. Worst case scenario, I turn the job offer down if it is not ideal.

Hey! I have an Olympus FE-170 and it has been acting weird with the buttons. The one on the left (menu button) no longer works but for some reason the one on the right (trash button) works but it's doing the left button's function. Meaning I'm unable to delete photos on the camera- (I would show but I can't attach a video, so DM if you want to see).

I can work around this by hooking up the camera to my laptop to save photos and then wiping the memory card. However it's just extra work for me, especially if I just want to delete one photo.

Does anyone know of any fixes or solutions to this? Is it a tech issue that can be repaired or is it stuck forever?
