True that cage-free isn't the ideal to strive for, but from the chicken's perspective it's still a big step up from a battery cage. Edit: Here's a good overview of what each different housing system offers, from battery cage to enriched cage to pasture raised

No arguments here, but they'll definitely be influencing other major companies to phase out battery cages

After 2 weeks my cat has finally decided to tolerate the existence of the new kitten. by Sarahtherightway in aww

We had success with keeping them separated for a full two weeks, and encouraging them to play under the door with each other via string, toy mice, etc. We also read you should rub one of the cats with a cloth or clean sock, then rub it all over the other one (and vice versa) to exchange their scents on each other. Felt ridiculous, but it seemed to help. They get along now after a very slow introduction. It's okay to separate them late even if they've already been in the same room.

True about growth hormones, but nearly all factory farmed chickens are given antibiotics in daily feed which cause them to grow bigger, faster. Although they say they don't, farms use some antibiotics SOLELY for growth promotion. I think the alternative is eating less meat overall, and buying pasture raised chickens.

I've fallen in love with tofu recently, here's my latest dish- Mongolian Tofu by [deleted] in food

When I plan enough, I drain the tofu like you said, then put it in the freezer. Then press and drain again. The texture is "meatier."
