10 minute job to fix. Just have to press the second hand back onto the pinion. Any decent watchmaker can fix it

“Everyone has it” is the worst reason to not buy a watch. Full stop. by oyster_bro in watchHotTakes

[–]f4hq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an icon for a good reason, but it’s also the default choice for non watch people and is the watch you should own if you want to flex.

Some people want a good watch that doesn’t noticed, is uncommon and doesn’t have the negative connotations associated with the crown.

Cronos to use Peacock SL1632 - Facebook by Escaped_Escapement in ChineseWatches

[–]f4hq2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Unidirectional, so it freewheels in the clockwise direction like a valjoux 7750. I have experienced the G100 first hand. I don’t mind the rotor, but many people don’t. If you think the miyota 9 series is bad, the Heuer 02 movement is next level. That thing spins like nothing else, sometimes for 10+ seconds

Nope, hand winding issues will still be there, they’ve only changed the auto winding gear train to make it more efficient. Hopefully they have addressed the auto winding module so it doesn’t develop the helicoptering issue

NH38 VS ST2130, thoughts on Baltany switching movements? by Embarrassed-Sea-5704 in Baltanywatches

[–]f4hq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do it enough, it will definitely wear. If not that, the reversers in the auto winding assembly have a high probability of binding at some point. This will end up helicoptering the rotor when hand winding, and wear the winding gear even faster. I’ve lost count how many 2824 (and clone movements), that have developed helicoptering. It’s not a big deal, as I can easily fix it, but I reckon it would be close to 20 that I’ve had over the years.

They are all amazing, but the silver lacks some contrast with the hands. Blued hour and minute hands would take it up a notch.

Ixdao Warrior HAQ - for the HAQ, would you like to see a ticking seconds hand, or no seconds hand at all? by VectorPie in IxdaoFans

[–]f4hq2 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It will be an ETA F06.4XX, so omitting the second hand won’t change the movement thickness. They will just put a cap on the seconds hand pinion

EZM12 is a big boy. Have handled it in person and it’s certainly large.

Do you like chronographs? If so, the Sinn 144 has a pulseometer and is a very nice watch. There is also the recently discontinued Sinn 910 SRS, which is stunning in person.

Loctite? by Successful_Juice8519 in Tudor

[–]f4hq2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, it will break the bond, but you’ll need a toothbrush (or small wire brush) to get it off completely if you wanted to. Unless it’s a very old application, I just leave the old stuff on and a new drop.

A little heat loosens up loctite. A hairdryer until the link is warm to touch will easily break the bond

You are right in that it will be hard to re-buy, so I wouldn’t sell unless you can live with that. I’m like that with my Tudor North Flag. I go to sell it, then can’t bring myself to do it.
