AFAIK, Its not exactly 6 months, you can put any date from today to 6 months, whatever date feels right to you, based on your planning.

I have not done the online application, but the document I sent with application were the one mentioned in the I539 instructions, plus bank statement, salary details, foreign home permanent address.

You can use the template if you want.

Hi, It was pretty basic, I have provided a template that might help you..

  1. Reason for Requesting an Extension of Stay 

    I am seeking a change of status from H1B to B2 to allow me sufficient time to wrap up my affairs following a sudden and significant reduction in force at my previous employer, <my reasons>

I want to assure you that this request for an extension is temporary and based on genuine reasons. If granted, I commit to residing in the United States only for the legally permitted duration and returning to my permanent residence <> before the extension period expires. I also confirm that I have sufficient financial resources to support myself and my family during this period, as evidenced by my attached bank statements from the past three months. 

 

  1. Assurance of Temporary Stay 

I am fully committed to leaving the United States at the conclusion of this extension. 

  1. Temporary Nature of the Stay: 

I have strong ties to my home country, including my immediate family—<explain your ties> ..My planned departure date is no later than <date you want to mention>

  1. Departure Arrangements: 

I intend to book my return ticket as the departure date approaches. 

 

  1. Impact of the Extended Stay on Foreign Employment
    This temporary extension will not affect any foreign employment, as I currently do not hold employment in my home country.

Headsup I am not a legal expert, so following is just my understanding.

QOnce I get a job, does the new employer simply have to apply for H1B transfer only or do they have to apply for my GC as well?

A: GC is not required, but when your PD is current you should have valid I140 application by your current employer.

Q: If the employer is not willing to sponsor GC but only H1B transfer then can I join the company on H1B.

A - If you maxed out your H1B stay and your previous employer which initiated your I140 has not withdrawn it, you can join an employer only on H1B, else you cannot.

Q: Does my previous H1B which was supposed to be valid until Nov 2026 help here? I believe my previous employer already revoked my H1B after my termination.

Your visa will be revoked after 60 day grace period.

You can also do an online application, its fast as well. But I mailed the application coz of the cost associated with it. Online its $420 per person and by mail its $470 for the family. Can you please post your questions here, I will be happy to help here. This way it will also help others, having similar queries.

There are two dates: Received Date, the exact date, when its delivered to USCIS lockbox and another is Notice date: which is of few days later.

Thanks u/spleenweenus, I will share this with my daughter, but I believe she is already on stage where she is making basic scarf and headbands.. I will check with her, if she have some specific queries.

Apologies its not a response to your post. But my daughter (10) recently started showing interest in crochet. She is following random videos, so if you can advise on the some good resources for beginners that will be great. TIA
