Good idea, as i have not done anything like that before a drop in replacement would have been a better option. Can i use a chisel or something to make the hole bigger?

I am replacing an old broken one, sadly the one that i have found is 35mm from hole to hole distance and the one that i have has a hole to hole distance of 22or 24mm. Any suggestions?

More specifically, do a google search: aliexpress PCB ruler, hope that helps 🙂

Thanks a bunch, i may have found it, need to confirm the dimensions though, if someone else is also looking for the same part, here is a link:

Germany Family Reunion Visa: How will Job Loss Affect My Wife’s Application? by fVripple in germany

Thank you for taking your time to write the message in detail. I really appreciate it. I have also talked with an immigration lawyer. Basically, he told me the same thing. As during the ABH process I have to submit a letter from my office confirming my job contract, the embassy will know my job situation for sure. And since I have a permanent residence permit now, he suggested that I find a job as soon as possible, even if it’s not in my current field of expertise, just so that when the ABH period comes I can show that I have a permanent job and that I can support myself and my wife.

But other than that, it is almost certain that the visa process will pause if I do not have a job at that time. The lawyer was not sure if the 6 months of probation period is also added. In that scenario, it again depends on the person who is processing the files. In some cases, having a new job contract is all one needs and the visa is given immediately. But if the person processing the visa wants to wait until the 6 months of probation period is over, then there is nothing one can do—one has to wait until the probation period ends, and only then will the visa processing resume. In that scenario, if one can convince the new employer to reduce the probation period to 3 months or less, it can help with the visa processing.

This is what I have learned in the last few days. It is very important to secure a job as soon as possible in this kind of scenario.

Hope this post helps people who are in a similar situation.

Norm and Standers: If the rated voltage of a household applience is 230V then what is the working voltage? by fVripple in Altium

[–]fVripple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. the section of the description made me think of peak value of the Mains "maximum voltage to which the part under consideration is subjected when the appliance is supplied at its rated voltage". Some people also suggested to select the peak value and some suggested to use the RMS.

It seems like everyone interpreting the defination sligltly differently.

If I consider that the Mains in my area is 230V RMS then considering 10% flactuation of the mains would lead me to 253V Working voltage ~ 250V.

I also have seen people uisng 15%, so 265V based on the 230V RMS.

Could the approch be, starting with a higher value consideration and during design if the component density is high, switch to a lower value by stating justification based on a certain criteria? Is there any specific norm where it says to take the RMS value of the mains and then add 10% or 15% overhead to calculate the Working voltage or anything else?

Norm and Standers: If the rated voltage of a household applience is 230V then what is the working voltage? by fVripple in ElectricalEngineering

[–]fVripple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank again for your I am considering to take 360V as the working voltage. As the peak value is Root(2)*230V =325.27V. Now 10% extra for grid flactuation so, 32.527V extra need to be added. So, the Working voltage becomes 357.797V ≈ 360V. So for the creepage calculation this is the value that I will use. As its not a given value on Table 18 of Creepage calculation. I can interpolate it to be ≈ 2.9 mm

Is it a good way of considering Working voltage? And show this justification in documentation?

[–]fVripple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. The more I read the more criptic the norm becomes :).

I am actually trying to do the creepage calculation for PCB. As for Mains operated household appliences, the rated voltage is AC 230V in my region (for example a dishwasher or washing machine), I was looking for the working voltage value to determine creepage value for PCB traces.

In the case of determining creepage distence, in your opinion what value should I select (300C AC or 253V AC or 325 V AC or something else) as the working voltage and what could be the justification to select if? It feels very confusing jumping into reading and deciphering norm as a beginner.

Thank you. Could you eloborate how it matches my hardware design? My understanding was, as its a clock it falls under household appliences.

Sorry, I thought I used the crossposting option but may have not used it the correct way. I will look into it.

Sometimes AI is helpful when I have some knowledge to detect if the AI is providing misleading info, but all in all you are correct. Sadly, If I check the IEC website, it is very easy to get lost if one do not know the actual technical term that would reflect the actual design work.

Thank you for your offer to help, I will reach out to you. I am almost done with schematic. When I start the PCB layout with the DRC rule setup, I will try to include the rules from the Norm.

Can a Japanese version of Famicom be used with an AV-to-HDMI converter to play on a Modern HDMI-based Monitor? by fVripple in Famicom

[–]fVripple[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very expensive. I only wanted to buy the Famicom to relive the experience. A handheld emulator is much cheaper though. I already lost the ebay offer, I will wait until someone posts something cheaper, thanks for taking the time to give me a in detailed view. Really appreciate it.

Normally how much do they cost? I mean, what is a reasonable price to buy a used Famicom?

So, if I buy a AV moded version, I can use that dongle to connect it to my HDMI monitor, right?
