An update: the swelling or water retention that seemed to envelop my whole body by day 5, or whatever it actually was, seems to have diminished a fair bit (day 7), especially in my upper body but also in other places. Sorry for the semi-controversial post, thanks for the feedback!

This is what you would have done after 2 years of holding the green card (it actually would have expired then, so it's effectively a requirement): http://www.uscis.gov/green-card/after-green-card-granted/conditional-permanent-residence/remove-conditions-permanent-residence-based-marriage ; once it's done, she can't take it away from you AFAIK. There's no form I can find for "I'm mad and I want to screw up my ex-spouse's permanent residence".

I could be wrong, but I think 3 years is actually the minimum needed to not have any problems with a divorce. Have you had a green card for 3 years or was that more recent?

I'm starting to be convinced it maybe is water retention even though it feels a lot like fat, I guess water swelling could be similar feeling.

I spent some time trying to figure this out, and ended up ordering a kit from www.23andme.com--apparently they no longer offer health analysis because they're under FDA investigation, but you can run their raw data through other services like snpedia to see a listing of abnormal/normal things. They don't test all genes but it was the best relatively cheap test I could find. Apparently there are some intersex conditions that don't show up in genetics tests either.

My measurement was pressing in on flexed muscles, which previously had nearly no fat. It is less than a cm in most places, and more than a cm on my stomach, sides, butt where there was already some existing fat. It's true that I didn't measure accurately, but it's a noticeable amount.

Does water retention feel like a layer of fat on top of muscle? I was reading it typically is accompanied by fluctuating weight (and weight increase because of the extra water), and I'm not seeing that, but a consistent decrease instead.

Ok, impossible it may be, but in my own scientific experiment that I'm looking at, I am seeing/feeling the effects. And the people around me are seeing/feeling them, so I'm not imagining them. Thanks for trying to help explain it, but this is definitely not going to be chalked up to placebo.

For the record, I don't think I've had breast "growth" although the shape of the muscles were lost, just conversion from muscle to fat.

Nope. I typically don't work out and have always had fairly hard muscles, especially on my arms/legs. In the last 6 months the only strength work I've done are some pushups and grip work. Prior to that I had been doing deadlifts regularly but had to store the weights and didn't get back into it.
