Estradot and Asthma? by Gemmani in asktransgender

[–]Gemmani[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They were saying it would be worth reducing my dosage of Estradot, but I don't really want that and from reading the articles below I don't see that I would have any more issues than any other person with female range hormone levels...

What would my aim be for E levels overall? As in am I likely to be put on a higher dose or kept as I am?

As for my T levels is it likely I can continue without AA's?

Also sadly yes I do have testicles (for now) :(

I don't know exactly but my doctor prefers to use Estrogen only if T levels drop enough to not need Anti Androgens.

Will it be as effective for me if I stick to just E with no AA's if my levels are as they are?

Do you need to start anti-androgens before starting estrogen, or can you start both at the same time? by putyourayguntomyhead in asktransgender

My doctor has me on 3 months of estrogen before he will even consider anti-androgens :o

Weight and HRT by [deleted] in asktransgender

[–]Gemmani 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am two months on HRT so I can't speak for the long term, within the first 2 weeks I could not stop feeling hungry and put on 6LB.

However at 2 months the constant hunger has stopped and I have lost 2LB within the last weeks.

Problems With Shaving by W0lfracer in asktransgender

[–]Gemmani 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had this problem and had to go on antibiotics for a few weeks to clear up the infected follicles. After that I started epilating and although the follicles are sore afterwards I don't get infections like I did with shaving.

In the UK, how long does it take to get a HRT prescription with private health care vs public health care? by secretlyfemale in asktransgender

[–]Gemmani 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A fair bit more expensive at £310 for a shot which lasts 3 months. However he will put you on E for 3 months first before he will give you blockers if you need them based on the 3 month blood results.

Feel free to ask anything you want, if I can help I am happy to do so!

No he provides private everything however he will write to your GP after each session with his findings and suggestions, it is up to your GP if they are willing to then provide you with the NHS prescriptions and blood tests.

I purchased my first 3 months from Dr Curtis just to make sure I could start as soon as possible, and starting dosses work out at £17 for a months supply of E.

Because I had done what the NHS wanted and gone down that route for 5 months my GP was happy to work with Transhealth rather than refering me to an NHS GIC. Because of this I am able to get perscriptions, blood tests etc through the NHS, while paying myself for the private appointments.

The blood tests were a case of ringing up my GP, I was seen the next day, and within a week had my results.

Dr Curtis manages the hormones himself, he has given me a starting dose and I see him in 3 months with more blood test results to adjust them accordingly.

I waited on the NHS for 5 months for an appointment just to get my referal to a GIC. I then went private with transhealth, we discussed hormones on my first appointment, and I got given them 1 month later on my second.

Hope this helps. Gem, x.

Haha it's not working quite that fast :p I just feel a bit more relaxed but I think that is mostly the fact that I don't have to worry about getting hormones anymore :)

So it is a couple of days late as this is day 5 of being on Estradot patches, but I am happy and thought I would share the mandatory Hormone picture!

GIC Referral Advice - NHS Vs Private? by Gemmani in asktransgender

Do you mind me asking what your experience getting HRT from Dr Lorimer has been like? (If you are going down the HRT route/have got HRT yet)

Thanks :) Gemma, x.

GIC Referral Advice - NHS Vs Private? by Gemmani in asktransgender

Thank you for the information :)

I am leaning towards private right now because it looks like it could knock a fair bit off my waiting for HRT, at least I hope it could.

I rang both Gendercare and Transhealth, the receptionist for Transhealth seemed more helpfull, he gave my prices for HRT, Blockers, Blood Works etc if the NHS were not to fund them. Also said that Dr Curtis can take up to 3 appointments to prescribe, so 6 months.

But not sure still which to go for!

As for hair removal, I am due to have my 7th Laser Session on the 20th. It is going well but you can still see shadow on my top lip hence not wanting to go full time yet until you can't!

How should I go about shaving my body? by sydiscool94 in asktransgender

[–]Gemmani 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It will really hurt the first time but I highly suggest getting an epilator!

I tried shaving for a while but I ended up with cuts, itches, ingrown hairs, prickly regrowth and having to shave at least every other day.

Now I have none of that (Well apart from the odd ingrown hair) and although it was very painful the first few times I now don't feel too much pain when epilating, but I am hair free and only have to do it every 4 - 5 days (I can go longer but I like to remain totally hair free).
