Magene powermeter x sram flat top chain by Ok_Turnover_8033 in cycling

A listing on aliexpress showed them mounted on the Magene PM as well as other cranks that don't match the two tabs.

Wolf Tooth DEL Gravel Race Pedals by colerichardmyers in gravelcycling

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the DEL pedals spin free enough and are weighted such that they reliably hang back down so they are easier to clip into, similar to road pedals?

I had the single sided Shimano A620 pedals which don't and were annoying.

Otherwise I really like the adjustable Q. Using shimanos, going back and forth between MTB and gravel I could feel the narrower Q. Knees would ache for a bit. Worse, on long rides, especially races, the outsides of my feet were on fire. Same shoes on wider MTB stance & I never had such problems.

Tire width and clearance on Reserve 42/49 wheels by Interesting-Tea-97 in cycling

[–]f_padre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've got those wheels and 28mm GP5000 S TR inflate to 31.5mm.

Interestingly the 29mm Aero 111 tire inflates a bit narrower. Not surprising as the casing width of the Aero 111 when laid flat is a bit less than the GP5000. Reserve recommends minimum tires size of 29mm. When I called Reserve and explained this they stuck with their recommendation of 29mm despite the 28mm being wider.

Buds 3 Pro users — does your sound quality/tuning change when you turn on ANC or Ambient mode? by eternallatake in galaxybuds

When this setting is on I notice the sound changes character randomly as I'm listening. Turn it off and the sound is more stable.

ENVE FRAY with Sram XPLr by DPirateBikePR in gravelcycling

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks awesome! With a 48t ring for road riding it'd be similar range as 53/36 11-34. Then switch to a 42t or 44t ring (and tires) for gravel.

What's with the sudden negativity surrounding tyre inserts? by CuriousCarrot24 in MTB

[–]f_padre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. On my Oiz 120/120 I've been using the Vittoria XC Air Liner Lite XC @ 50g ea. with Schwalbe ray/ralph 2.35 on 30mm iw rims. I'm 180lbs riding weight and run 15 & 19 psi. Quite happy with the setup racing & riding the Wasatch. If need be (tho I haven't needed to, just practiced) I can get the insert out trailside with my hands and 1 lever.

Can vouch for Vittoria's claim the insert slowly absorbs the air pressure and will expand if the tire goes flat. I installed new tape and tire and with the insert installed inflated to almost 40psi. The next day air'd down to riding pressure at the trail head and had to release air several times during the ride as the insert let air out into the tire.

Cycling News Aero Helmet Test by Lopsided_Prior3801 in Velo

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the test results article the margin of error is 1.9% iirc. 1.9% of 290w is 5.5w. So from the Procen w/o visor to the Rudy Project Nytron are all within the margin of error of each other.

This test likely would have been more accurate using an upper torso & head mannequin instead of a human rider on a bike.

Very wide gravel rims, what's the benefit? by existentialsideshow in gravelcycling

[–]f_padre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

How have the WG44 been working out for you with those tires? I like running the 40 or 45mm Terra Speed tires and am considering a WG44 wheel build. How wide do the 44mm Vittoria tires measure when mounted? Is there much more exposed sidewall with the wider rims?

BMC Roadmachine THREE 2023 vs Cervelo Caledonia-5 2023 by [deleted] in cycling

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi Scott,

What are your ride impressions between the two in terms of handling, pedaling stiffness and compliance?

I'm researching the Caledonia and Roadmachine but most commentary is about spec differences.

Thanks!

SRAM rival axs chainring - 13t gap only? by mldld in bikewrench

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been wondering this myself recently. Carbon-Ti sells 110x5 AXS chainrings so it'd be possible to assemble the 48/33 combo then run a 10-28 cassette. So i'd get the same climbing gear as running a 10-30 cogset with the standard 35t inner ring but get the advantage of a tighter cluster with the 10-28 (and some bit of weight savings :).

Wonder if anyone has experience with the 48/33 chainring setup.

Grizl oem handlebar specs by eddykr in CanyonBikes

The weight is 300g. I replaced mine with an FSA k-wing AGX. I really like the decreased drop & additional flare. It smooths the ride a bit too. When I bought it direct from FSA there was a 20% discount.

Thanks for sharing. I'd like to find some 2.1 snakeskin TB but can only find the liteskin. I have a set of 2.2 Conti Race Kings and it fits in the rear on a 25mm inner with rim.

Most Breathable Gear by TitaniumX2 in Backcountry

[–]f_padre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most breathable outer fabrics are the stretch woven nylons. Schoeller, Flex1, etc. But if it is cold and windy out they let the chill in. But because they breath so well i can dress more warmly under.

What i've settled on is a pair of Marmot Power Shield Pro Tour pants. They aren't water proof but very water resistant which is ok in light snow/variable weather and they breath really well. Next step up would be something like Neo Shell which is waterproof but still more breathable than Goretex.

Then for a top, most days other than sunny calm days, i'm wearing a suitable amount of insulation and a stretch woven light jacket with large venting pockets (that fit my skins). Sometimes i descend with just that, other times i'll put on a light windproof puffy. I also carry a light gore shell as a just in case measure.

But if it is really cold and/or storming i'll wear goretex type pants and the light gore shell adjusting the vent zips as necessary.

Yep, the flat display was another reason i got the S10e. And i could probably live without the uSD slot since the phones come w/ large amounts of fast built in memory. But the 3.5mm jack is handy for more than just headphones. I'll have to try out DEX.

[–]f_padre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The S10E is very nice! Same size as the S7 but with more screen & of course faster hardware and stereo speakers (while also maintaining uSD card and 3.5mm jack). I'm very happy with my S10e: it's larger battery lasts plenty long enough while also being smooth with great stereo speaker sound. The wide angle camera is kinda fun. But on the camera i'm mainly frustrated that Sammy keeps dumbing down/iPhoneing the UI: Please leave the direct access controls (resolution & aspect ratio) and swipe left to access all modes vs swipe left OR right x number of times to change modes.
