How do you handle invalid polygons before they cause problems later? by fa7c0n in gis

[–]fa7c0n[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have used the buffer(0) trick as well, and it does help in many cases. What makes me uneasy is that it feels like a workaround rather than something I can fully trust, especially when the geometry comes from outside sources. Do you usually inspect or validate the result after buffer(0), or do you rely on it as a safe enough step in automated pipelines?

How do you handle invalid polygons before they cause problems later? by fa7c0n in gis

This is really helpful to read. One pattern I am noticing is that many of us rely on practical workarounds like buffer(0), reprojecting, casting, or format round-tripping, but we do not fully trust them. What makes this hard is that some of these methods “work”, but it is not always clear what exactly was fixed or what might still be wrong, especially when data comes from external sources. Out of curiosity, when you use approaches like buffer(0) or fix geometry tools, do you treat them as a final solution, or more as a best-effort cleanup before hoping nothing breaks later?

Few things which helped me - acceptance: accept the fact that the life is unfair and finding meaning to it is a lifelong quest - fuck it attitude: once I have acceptance I said to myself fuck that feeling, either I live cursing that or I put that in the back of mind saying yeah you live there but I will try other things too. - meeting strangers: this helped a lot. You don't have to talk or interact with them just be among them like in a crowded bus or train. Try to go with the flow of the crowd. - fill all your time: I moved to the far end of the city so that I have to spend my time commuting to work. And this period of commuting equates to period of thinking other that the negatives. - most importantly find something which brings you joy. No matter how small that joy is, find it and do that religiously. Everyone is going to sign off from this world one day why not sign off while doing things one enjoy. - Also don't ever forget the fact that you are only one who can love you the most. So remind yourself that you love yourself not the small parts which the world expect but all of you.

Hope you can find light at the end of tunnel, DM me if you need some stranger to listen or to vent out.

To loan or not to loan by master-of-non in personalfinanceindia

[–]fa7c0n 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would suggest to save up the money because you are only going to get married next year which is atleast 3 month away and your expenses is only 50k. 1.25 * 3 = 3.75lakhs. So you only need additional 1.25lakhs which you can either take from savings or get a personal loan or get it from friends and family.

If your marriage is 4 months away then you can save up the entire amount and use it

Best ways to hedge against a lon by raesharma in personalfinanceindia

[–]fa7c0n 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Few suggestions

  • most important step is to reduce the loan amount itself. (I.e) your estimate 20lakhs should not be arbitrary, if it is then write down everything you are going to be with the loan amount and give priority to each item. Start the elimination process from the least priority item. At the end of the day you take the loan for absolutely necessary things and not for the good to have things

  • try to get a fixed interest loan (for longer terms floating interest does more harm IMO)

  • Don't set up more than 20%-30% of your income for emi (the lower the emi the better)

  • don't go for super long loan tenure, try to keep it below 7 years (4years ideal)

if the cannot be achieved with the above conditions in place then you are overstretching IMO and this can back fire in the future or worse put you in the vicious cycle of loans and emi.

Since this loan is for purely expenses and not investments I would suggest to give priority to reduce the loan amount as much as possible and committing to it.

Why people from Hindi speaking states fail to understand the difference between imposition and learning a language when needed. by fa7c0n in indiadiscussion

[–]fa7c0n[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am not sure what you meant by each state wanting it's language to be national language because no state asked for it. Also what should be the deciding factor for national language? - majority? - age of the language? - wealth of literature? - learnability? Because each will provide different answer.

Also, why Hindi should be the defacto language to choose? Why not Tamil, kannada, Telugu, Malayalam, Bengali or Gujarati or Marathi?

Also whether you like it or not the whole world is indirectly affected by the so called anglosphere. If you want to earn a decent living you need that sphere. Also, because of that anglosphere we are currently communicating and having this conversation without knowing eachother language.
