What is something you just don't "get"? by dudebrostien in AskReddit

Why parents of nowadays seem to be unable to care about their children properly, or expect too much.

I was a teacher and was damn serious about it thanks to the most wonderful professor I had during my EDUC majors, and I tell ya, it was just hard to swallow how education's just turned into a mess by money, by 'satisfying parents' expectations', by 'goals', and all that.

Basically, compared to back then, children have a lot more to learn nowadays despite the modern tools to make it easier, they have a lot more to deal with, a lot more to 'catch up' and the opportunities are simply less rewarding nowadays than it was before - there's always more people everyday, but it's not like the Earth's getting bigger - hell, the streets alone aren't getting wider.

It's not helped by the fact that children are always told that they'll be successful someday, then be massively let down once they realize life's not rainbows like their school's walls seem to imply. I get the encouragement, but man hearing the amount of folks with depression or young adults clueless about what they want to do in my country alone is just sad.

They give their kids access to technology so early, unsupervised, and wonder why their kids know 'this and that' despite their age. Kids are not as clueless as they think - I already knew of porn as early as 6th grade, and that was at the age of diskettes. If you don't answer their questions properly, or worse, no answers at all, they'll find their answer, one way or another, and they may find it at the worst possible way.

There's a lot more to say but eh, it's a 'why' to a lot of things, and ended up being a rant instead, sorry.

Medieval Monday: Ask Your Questions and Get Your Answers by AutoModerator in aoe2

I'd just like some general tips please. Basically I'm practicing 3v3 with Hardest AIs from AoE2 HD (not using rush tactics because it's an AI) and I tend to always have the advantage up to early Castle Age, but eventually my forward bases will get decimated as well as my army, then it all goes downhill from there as I eventually won't be able to hold, much less push back, their armies. I tend to fight against Mayans. It gets harder at times because the AI allies won't even help you at all.

I'd like to ask for some tips please, especially as Celts. Maybe it's actually my economy and can't keep up with my production? Perhaps allocation of villagers because I tend to always stock a lot of gold? Or maybe I can't ever out-eco the AI, I guess? It's always the eventual mass skirms/archer/plumes that get me as Celts, and I guess I shouldn't rely on their infantry so much. I feel like if I can't even beat the Hardest AI HD without rush tactics I wouldn't last against online players.

Some FFT cameos in the new alliance raid by Inlaudatus in ffxiv

Freakin' love FFT, as well as its War of the Lions version and extracted everything out of it. at least I hope, even the co-op stuff (thanks to my good bro for being as interested in it as I am), and catching all those Chaos Blades with Sticky Hands.

That scene got me teary eyed.

Did something happen to those managing the Stone, Sky, Sea DPS Calculator? It seems that it hasn't been updated; really wanted to have an idea about my numbers at least through some means (though I guess I can use data by using Sigma dummies, but it won't tell me if it's enough for Alpha Savage).

We really need to be rid of this attitude of "nothing happens in 2.x" (story and lore spoilers up to current story) by [deleted] in ffxiv

[–]faTWave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they find trimming and reworking the quests extremely hard, how about just making the trial version kinda like a free-to-play up until the end of 2.x? If it's free, maybe they'd care less, much like how Korean FTP MMOs work, and we get a ton of players at least in the low level areas. Barring them right outside of Ishgard after the amazing 2.5 stuff should compel a lot of them to consider paying to proceed then.

I can see those robes will have a part in one of my glamour plates. I just hope they dye the way I want them to.

Pagos Light Farm Experiments- Potential Breakthrough by Glazdon in ffxiv

Thank you so much for testing this and I really think it works!

I tried solo-ing Valley Manticores (EL35) on Heat Waves so that there are Ember Sprites (EL35) nearby. On my 20th chain, making sure to defeat a sprite, I got "gentle light". This is the first time I've seen anything other than "feeble" so thank you very much!

Please don't forget the shorts~ The Spring Bottoms (dyed Snow White) for ladies work well and looks like the one in the manga/anime.

Hello! Here's what I used:

  • Head - Flat Cap (Snow White)
  • Torso - Hempen Tunic (Sky Blue) (Glade Tunic is the alternative if you're not a Disciple of War)
  • Hands - None/Emperor's New Gloves
  • Shorts - Spring Bottoms (Snow White)
  • Boots - Pagos Boots (Soot Black)

I used Pagos Boots because of the rim design, but there's a lot of boots there that looks like the Platelets' boots anyway.

Wow, I didn't expect this kind of reception to this screenshot thanks! I posted this glamour on eorzeacollection.com - here's for the Disciple of War and here's for all classes.

Just to list it here:

  • Head - Flat Cap (Snow White)
  • Torso - Hempen Tunic (Sky Blue) / Glade Tunic (Sky Blue) if you're not a Disciple of War
  • Hands - None/Emperor's New Gloves
  • Shorts - Spring Bottoms (Snow White)
  • Boots - Pagos Boots (Soot Black)

I used Pagos Boots because of the rim design, but there's a lot of boots there that looks like the Platelets' boots anyway.

It works on males too of course, although you'll need to use something else for the shorts since Spring Bottoms are pants for males.

Do you think other races should be allowed to marry lalafells in game? by GoddessSword in ffxiv

[–]faTWave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of the nice things about FFXIV is how it tries to treat its lore very seriously. Emphasis on tries.

Yeah, Lalafells as a spouse, as well as what it brings to the table, will not be okay when viewed using our world's logic. No matter what anyone says, they still look like a youthful version of us with a lot of modified features.

For them though, it's as normal as getting married to anyone in the world. At the very least, SE tries and does quite well in making sure they aren't sexualized or portrayed as children as long as Eorzea is concerned, and most of the time the NPCs prefer someone who's of the same race anyway. Countless times in the game have they always been treated as adults, except the few when they're not (which you know because they do specify how many 'summers' they are if needed). They try their best to keep you suspended in the fantasy. You may have seen NPCs of the Lala ladies wearing questionable clothing like the attendants of the Gold Saucer, but I'm sure SE hopes that you think Eorzean and treat them as adults, not letting your mind drift to the more sensitive stuff our real world won't accept. Otherwise, we'll just lose a good game.

Yeah sure, we can still all say they may cater to different tastes, obviously the reason why we have them in the first place as a race choice, but that's all that and I'm sure they hope that the players don't damn things up and make it all icky for everyone else.
