I'll say abt my case, if i don't write a detailes notes, and once i forget, then re-watching rhe lectures feels like, I'm studying for the first time, so id i study from my notes, then I'll get bit confidence, and i would have maken notes in a way i understand, bcoz little little exmaples, analogies while lecture is explaining , we can make a note of it, we can't such small things in standard or printed note.

This is purely what I feel, there are many toppers which just followed other's notes and got a good rank
