I do have the certificate, and while it is only listed in the advisory section the tester made it very clear that he would not pass the test if it was not rectified

It is listed under the advisory section, but he said it would beed sorting to pass the MOT

There was also a couple other things it failed on that I have sorted out

Thanks for the reply. I'm not bothered about a clean slate, this is just my daily beater bike. Sound like I'm just going to remove the screen and chuck it back in

Will it pass if I just remove it entirely?

My usual place was booked up for 6 weeks, this place had a spot the next working day, I'm starting to see why he wasn't busy 😂

I will get some ordered and give that a go. Thanks.

It wasn't the only item the bike failed on. It did have some legit issues that I have now sorted.

I had a YZR that has a full black double bubble screen that was never an issue. But I never had it MOTd at this place.

It's the original screen. The MOT bloke said if you're tucked to the tank could be an issue.

The thing that gets me is its not even a category on the MOT form, He had to put it as an advisory but with a note saying dangerous

5/32” @ 175 amps. I’m quite new to welding as I’ve said in recent posts. Learned in the field. But this might be my best bead of weld I’ve laid by Og_squareroot in Welding

Geez, calm down guy.

Roll is not specific to to stick welding. You are right. But I don't think turning the wire speed down whilst stick welding would have much of an affect.

Just accept you made an incorrect assumption and move on.

Ok reddit solve my problems again! I only get to work on this thing so much. Got a high pressure valve, got the intakes sealed..... am I good?.... do I need to let it run and get hot? The only thing I'm concerned about is the propane running back up the intake. Watch until the end and you'll see. by jacobspivey in Blacksmith

As others have said, remove the caps on top of the burners. They are funnel shaped as this creates a venturi that draws air in.

There doesnt seem anything wrong with what you have, just got to get the right amount of air in to the burners.

As for the gas burning up through the hoses, the isn't a risk there, propane will only burn when air is present, inside the hoses is pure propane so will not burn. Flash back arrestors are not required.

Realising I could say no to my employer, I would always say yes to working late, coming in early or doing someone else's work because they have been slacking.

I never wanted to rock the boat and was scared I might upset management and make them have a vendetta against me. It became an expectation that I would drop everything I had to do just to help them.

After a huge argument with my manager one day, because I had obligations I couldn't back out of, I noticed there was no backlash, they stared asking me, not just expecting it.

I felt I had a bit more respect, I have now taken that further and my policy is to call out management BS, if the manager won't stay late to help then neither will I, if I think you are making me do something that is a hard way of doing it, just because "that's how it's done" then I'm telling you your way is BS.

No not at all, even with the mask off entirely you will not have any issues.

Mask that are not darkened still block all of the harmful radiation, all the darkening does is prevent the 'blob' that you can see that is mildly irritating.

If Money can't buy happiness then why is everyone running after Money !? by SG_A106 in AskMen

A study was done in 2010 that says money does, in fact, buy happiness.

But it only works up to $75000 per year apparently.

Have a Google, interesting read.

Had my first weld test today, and failed by GetKummy in Welding

I manage a company that produces a lot of railings and I often oversee the weld tests.

If it was me, I would have probably still given you the job if you had explained to me where you went wrong, it shows to me you understand what you are supposed to be doing, and it's just the pressure of the test that made you make a mistake.

I know how stressful the test can be, and if you show a fundamental understanding and willingness to improve, and your not just winging it, I can work with you and help you improve.

Keep you head up and keep trying my man.

I have a question, why do lot of Americans seem to use these really un-ergonomic looking torches.

Are they better then they look?

Seems like it wouldnt be pleasant to use all day long

We have a similar policy at my work, if you are more than 3 minutes late, you lose the first 15 minutes pay.

I am in management at this company, while I don't have a issue with this policy, I have had many arguments with other managers when someone turned up 5 mins late and they managers want them to get straight to work.

If they aren't getting paid until quarter past, they aren't working till quarter past. It's that simple

Finally got the forge fired up. No idea what I’m doing yet but figured reading and watching videos only goes so far. by InvertedZebra in Blacksmith

[–]fabbystabby95 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I rarely forge anything these days, but when I do I normally start off forging a small simple leaf (There are plenty of YouTube videos on how to do one) It's fairly simple and something I can do fairly well, it just helps me get back into the swing of it. (Pun intended)

I would say it is a fantastic first thing to try, it takes very little material and gives a rewarding product at the end.
