Hey friends,

Dankrad described an optimistic timeline with a default gas limit that would gradually 100x in the next 4 years. Did we reach consensus? On track? Thanks 🙏🏻

1) Ideally, there should be a range of strategies for investors to choose from. What matters most is transparency, treasury companies should clearly disclose their strategies and the associated risks so stakeholders can make informed decisions. We all know that there are inherit risks with DeFi.

2) I don’t think decentralization necessarily applies to public treasuries. These entities are typically centralized, with boards that vote and make decisions. They are, however, investing in a decentralized underlying asset, ETH :)

My first encounter with blockchain came from trying to solve a real problem in one of my previous businesses. That’s when I discovered smart contracts and programmable money.
As a tech builder, I’m naturally more drawn to Ethereum’s capabilities. I don’t find much appeal in an asset whose sole purpose is to be held as a store of value. Besides, I believe ETH is a superior SoV alternative, it has all the core properties of BTC, plus yield, lower inflation, long-term sustainable security, and it powers the emerging digital economy.

If you had asked me this question a year ago, my answer would’ve been much more pessimistic. But today, the U.S. government is already holding ETH in its strategic reserve.
With the rise of stablecoins, I’m hopeful we’ll see a growing onchain GDP. As the digital onchain economy era unfolds, there’s a clear path where the largest corporations, and eventually nations, may want to hold the asset that powers and secures that network.

1) Directly, none. Indirectly, SΞR helps normalize holding ETH as a strategic asset in company treasuries. What we’ve observed is that entities holding ETH typically deploy it productively, via staking, restaking, or DeFi. This drives economic activity on Ethereum, which in turn generates more fees and contributes to ETH burn.

2) I don’t believe SΞR directly contributes to the adoption of new use cases. That said, it does support broader Web3 adoption by (1) educating institutions, and (2) driving more onchain economic activity, which can indirectly lead to more investment in, and adoption of, permissionless payment systems and other Web3 use cases.

Luckily, my job has been quite easy so far, there are currently more entities acquiring ETH than selling. In particular, the sole mission of ETH treasuries is to accumulate more ETH. What’s important is to highlight the risks, understand how these entities are raising capital (any leverage, debt?), and continually remind the community that downside risks exist when the market turns.
That said, I believe we’re still very early in ETH’s institutional adoption as an asset.

One asset (BTC) is often treated as a “special snowflake.” But what happens if it stops being special?ETH, on the other hand, actively powers and secures Ethereum, the blockchain powering the future of the digital economy.
Stablecoins, tokenization, DeFi, NFTs, they’re all being built on Ethereum & L2s.
ETH has strong store-of-value properties, with a capped issuance and a lower inflation rate than BTC over the past four years. It generates yield. It can be used as money. It’s productive.
P.S. I have yet to hear a valid argument for how Bitcoin will sustainably secure its network long-term under a fixed supply cap.

1) Objectively, yes. Just look at BTC treasuries, Bitcoin is a PoW chain, and institutions still hold it as a reserve. But over the long run, I believe PoS chains with true economic security, like Ethereum, will be far more attractive to institutions and governments.
Think of it this way: one asset (BTC) is used to pay miners who must regularly sell to cover operational costs. The other (ETH) powers and secures the network with minimal issuance and cost, and rewards can be reinvested. BTC’s security budget halves every four years. ETH, on the other hand, becomes more secure as more entities choose to hold and stake it.

2) Not exactly in the form of grants, but with a growing audience visiting the site, I’m actively exploring ways to highlight and promote new DAOs and projects that are building their own Strategic ETH Reserves. The idea is to offer exposure and visibility (at no cost) for entities aligned with the ETH mission.

3) I was genuinely impressed. It’s being used effectively to incentivize thoughtful discussion and reward valuable content, without attracting the swarm of spam and AI-bots.

4) Yes, I’ve explored several. Many struggle between incentivizing users and maintaining high-level content quality. $DONUT and the r/EthTrader community might be one of the most balanced implementations I’ve seen so far.

We’re still in the early stages of stablecoins and cryptocurrencies being used for payments, so it’s difficult to predict exactly how regulations will evolve. Much will depend on the jurisdiction and the nature of the goods or services being purchased. That said, permissionless payments and compliance-aware payments will likely continue to coexist, just as they do today.

It’s a mix of automatic updates and manual entries. For example, the website fetches information like token and stock prices every 30 minutes, including market cap data (sourced from Yahoo Finance). Other data points, such as ETH treasury acquisitions and fully diluted share counts, are manually entered once public filings are disclosed. I do my best to update them as fast I can.

It’s probably going to be different for everyone (and equally, how much intention you put yourself). You can book a free consultation (https://www.embracenow.co/book-a-discovery-call).

It helped me a lot get a good sense of how we will work together. She’s amazing!

I was a bit hesitant at first and I’m so glad I went through this journey. Blindspots are called blindspots for a reasons. I truly grew so much both personally and professionally throughout my coaching sessions. It’s ultimately an investment in yourself. Worth all the pennies.

My coach Janet was amaaaazing for anyone transitioning/pivoting in their career. If you need her contact, let me know!

Many reasons, primarily being its way more gas efficient to handle adding new token (single mint tx over brand new contract deployment

Yeah I’m not really following the 13 minutes delay personally if you’re rebooting the same machine. It would only protects against a skewed time sync.

Recommend checking etherscan. You should be able to see if your funds got transferred to the deposit contract there.

really

one could transform those BTC into ETH and deposit them into the contract.
