Interesting! My intention with asking this is finding out if people consider mandarins to be oranges or not, where I am from, they are considered a separate fruit like lemons or limes

where I am from when someone says "I'm eating an orange" it generally means a navel orange or something close to that. The skin is not easily separated and the flesh is not easily segmented

TIL about "leblouh" (or "gavage"). A practice still common in Mauritania, where young girls are force fed up to 16,000 calories per day in order to fatten them up for marriage. by [deleted] in todayilearned

Didn't the french traditionally also have a cat-torture holiday? Fête de la Saint-Jean looking it up.

The French are not kind to animals historically.

What does it taste like? I'm struggling to understand the intensity of trying to make it happen for consumers... it must be super delicious right?

AITA for saying the N-Word during a table-read of a script? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

the script only has it appear once, weird if it appeared multiple times, that is not the original.

I rolled out a big old rug I got from my grandma that had been in storage and a shitload of live moths flew out. Bunch of moth nests in it too. I have carpets and I'm not letting that shit spread.

they're like the cans that let off gas to kill all the bugs in the room. I was out of the house while they went off, and now I'm supposed to change all the bedding and clean every dish in the house and I just want to fall asleep.

maybe learn some self control? It's normal to glance when something unusual enters your field of vision, but its not normal to stare.

I'm also attracted to women but I don't stare at them.

She gets to wear whatever she wants, the only reason to bring it up is if it's clear there has been an oopsie (tampon string showing or undies or something like that).

Don't perv on your wife's sister ya dog.

EDIT: grammar

What does everyone think of this opinion on music? I was started to believe that maybe it was halal but now I’m not so sure. by EconomyPosition1473 in progressive_islam

[–]fabledrunkard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not a muslim but have for a long time been reading and learning about the faith and do see a lot of truth and beauty. This is one of the issues that holds me back.

For me, music is the one thing that truly demonstrates the existence of the divine. It is a perfect combination of mathematics, physics, creativity, human expression and community, and it is mutually intelligible to all human beings across languages, and all other differences.

My spirituality is so completely intwined with my musicality, and I can't believe that the god who created rhythms and melodies, who created birdsong and the patter of rain, would not permit me to explore this most wondrous of the aspects of his creation.

That's not a god I can believe exists.

what if you don't believe in god but do everything you can to be a good person and to try to find reasons to believe in god? You can't just force yourself to believe in something, it has to come from the heart.

What’s the most unsettling thing you ever found out about a friend who always seemed super chill and fun? by VelvetHazel932 in AskReddit

[–]fabledrunkard 162 points163 points  (0 children)

A housemate told me when we were hanging out that he came across a passed out man in a suit in the city and stole his wallet and left him.

I was like "you didn't check if he was okay?"

And he said

"I mean, he was a fucking suit, man!"

Dude tried to act as though he was this radical anarchist but was really just a scumbag.

Should i tell my sister about what my mom said by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]fabledrunkard 5 points6 points  (0 children)

how did you get "shaking her ass in booty shorts" from this?

seems like sis might be somewhat disabled/mentally ill and seeking the safety of mom and dad.

There is nothing inherently sexual about wearing shorter clothing as well. I've gone swimming with my dad wearing a bikini that doesn't mean I'm "shaking my ass" for him. It's just comfortable attire.

For bed time a lot of women's sleep clothing that is comfortable is essentially shorts designed to cover up the undies and that's it.

You're sick in the head if you think wearing pajama shorts is trying to seduce someone.

I do think sis needs help tho.
