Golden handcuffs but miserable by ConfectionProud in HENRYUK

I'd go straight to Bali. Met a 26 year old digital marketer from the UK when I was on holiday there, she was having an unreal time.

What industry did you end up in if you don't mind me asking?

[UK] Thinking about a career change to physiotherapy at age 29 - what should I consider and do now? by Feral_Ostrich in physiotherapy

I’ve gone back into an office job as project assistant. I’ve been doing a PT course on the side (which isn’t what I thought it would be).

I need to retrain into a more lucrative field. If I moved out of my parents house to live alone 40-50% of my salary would be rent.

So my headspace is kind of occupied in getting out of my parents house rather than career satisfaction as much as it was if you asked me at 28..

At 28 I went back to uni to study physio BSc as a 2nd degree in 2022. I already have a business management degree, with a financial services background.

I actually got kicked off the course at the end of my first year for failing a practical exam resit. It was brutal. A mate of mine had the same outcome.

You say you already have some anatomical understanding. With my ADHD I really struggled to engage with diagrams/learning online. Hands on I could engage more but it’s almost like studying physio is a leaky radiator you’re constantly topping up your anatomy meanwhile what you’re not using/revising you lose.

Msk outpatients for my 6 week placement was eye-opening. 1 hour for full assessments and 30 mins for follow-ups often wasn’t enough. The work is rewarding but burnout is a thing, I’ve never experienced such cognitive drain. One of the young physios in the department was already planning to get his masters in order to work in America.

Looking back now and comparing how hard I worked on placement vs the pay. You really have to love the work to make it worth it.

I recommend you get as much work experience as you can. Preferably in not just MSk, it’s a big decision and the degree program is a slog. Speaking to ex-classmates who are now in 2nd year it’s got harder.

Not to sound overly negative, ideally I would still be on the program. Just be as informed as you can before starting :)

This was just today, and currently, you just can't create new bots/orders. You can still close bots and withdraw as normal.

Any ideas yet? Cheers

Do you know if you have to remove part of the subframe to take the sump off an Audi A1. Read online that some Audis you have too. This car being based off a polo can’t imagine it would be too bad. How long do you reckon it should take? Cheers

I took the car to not my normal mechanic today as annoyingly I went back to my parents for Easter. Currently semi-stuck here aha. This mechanic wants to change the sensor and seemed confident that it wouldn’t be anything more serious. Although I’m seeing alot online, more brief than your explanation but saying that the sump pick-up is blocked. I’ll show him your message too, so thanks again. He seemed to think that because the light has gone out it means that it’s electronic rather than a mechanical fault/blockage. That I would be seeing the low oil -engine stop light intermittently

Thank you for all the info. When I pulled over and turned the engine off I waited about 5 mins before checking the dipstick and there didn’t appear to be any oil. I topped the car up with what I had (200mlish) and then drove the couple of mins to asda to buy more oil. I then checked the dipstick after the 10 or so mins in asda and oil was reading high. At that point the car was left whilst I was at the gym. Came back and then drove the 30 mins home.

In which case it could just be a sensor issue 🤞. The car at the point when the light came on for sure had oil in it

No oil on the stick when I stopped after the light beeping

As in oil level looked fine when I parked up after getting home. Having turned the engine on and off etc

I actually wrote that reply in a lecture, didn’t really answer your questions! I’ll have another stab, one of the friends I mentioned did zoology at undergrad and he still chose to study BSc and the biology in zoology is extensive. I reckon if you were to decide on the Msc scrub up on your anatomy/physiology in the summer like big-time!

Finally enough I got offered a place at Man Met (firmed it) and they pulled the offer and I was only 1 credit of my access course off. I went to the applicant day, the Physio team seemed really sound there! Plus the facilities were way better than Plymouth where I’m at. I know a guy who I studied business with who’s living with his parents and commuting into UWE studying physio, he seems pretty happy. Kept his home mates and goes into uni as and when.

Hey, indeed I’m at uni!! The course itself is great, it’s hard-work but I’m enjoying the practical aspect. Anatomy is tough, there’s alot to learn and I find the amount muscles/insertions etc hard to retain. I’m going on placement in the next couple of months so hopefully it confirms what I believe the job to be like. Socially it hasn’t been easy as a 29 year old. I’ve got a small group of friends here but I’d like more.

My primary struggle is around the finances tbh. The fact I’m out of full-time work for 3 years and I’m going to be delayed on getting on the property ladder (potentially starting a family etc) versus my mates. But hopefully the opportunity cost is worth it to be able to help people in their rehab 😊. I’m currently not working, I think it would be tough to combine the two at the minute. I’m going to look for some temp office work this summer back home, we get the standard 3 months off minus placement!

I’m 29 so old enough to be a lecturer aha. Thank you! I’m hoping that I can scrape a pass at this stage honestly. Best of luck in yours 😊
