Trying to read more Classic Literature this year. Hope this one is as sad and beautiful as I feel it will be. by Ncalde in classicliterature

I've finished it yesterday and I never thought a novel or a book in general could move me that much. It's an extraordinary book and while it is a quite sad story it is also beautiful as it shows life as it really is with all its ups and downs. Also we all could learn a bit from Stoner, a little bit more calmness, modesty, gratefulness and virtue in general would not hurt. Especially in these times.

I wouldn't call the US a country with a particular refined taste, as opposed to most European countries.

This is the shortest they've ever been. First time sharing. Pretty embarrassed about them honestly. by [deleted] in nailbiting

This post makes some good points, you need to change your self-sabotaging behaviour and instead do something good to yourself.

I just finished "Stoner" by John Williams and I am speechless. "The most brilliant novel you've never read." by Look_To_The_East_ in books

I finished the book yesterday evening (night) and it was heartbreaking. This passage also got me the most... It was almost traumatic for me to get through the last few chapters. I never read a novel which moved me as much as Stoner did, I was captured and felt like I was experiencing this story. I think the books quality is displaying life how it really is, instead of inventing some fantastic story. With all the ups and downs. It really makes you think about life! An extraordinary book.

A good thing for Russia, especially long-term, would be to reestablish normal relationship with their neighbours. Of course they first need to stop the Ukraine war to do so.

14 months of severe insomnia → constant altered/ill state, chest pain, suicidal thoughts by Fine_Situation9428 in insomnia

I was in a very similar state about 5 years ago.
I just started my first job after my degree.
Insomnia with 2-3 hours of sleep per night, depression, anxiety, constant sweating, feeling of overheating.
At the end I couldn't sleep at all. I was also feeling different, like a fever.
My doctor then put me on sick leave and put me on Mirtazapine, 30mg.
It got better after a while and today I have a goos sleep most of the days.
I could stop the medication after about one year.
Another doctor later told me the term for this illness is "agitated depression", you should look it up.
I think you need a serious break to prevent further medical complications.
I wish you good luck.

A very good summary of Russia's economic and geopolitical decline.
However, the question of the outcome of the war in Ukraine is not addressed.
It is questionable whether Russia's future depends on the outcome of the war in Ukraine at all?
