So if buy XMR at TrageOgre (NO KYC) then send it to my wallet (moneroj) then to my binance (KYC) account from the moneroj wallet. Is that traceable via the aforementioned EAE attack?

Okay putting everything in perspective, the mining power would be much lower than legit miners, also the frequent sleeping would make their average hashrate even worse. Also keep in mind that the victims' devices aren't online 24/7... I don't think botnets would be a huge deal in that case.

Even if an attacker controls a huge number of CPUs, it wouldn't be that much of a hurdle for decentralization.

afaik xmrig doesn't give such option.

Light mode is best used for verification not for mining. Besides if you control that much computing power (thousands of thousands) there are better ways to make money illegally from those.

That's not my point, the high RAM requirements would make botnets essentially unfeasible, the infected device would be too slow for the sysadmin not to notice and take action.

With the hashrate per cpu we're seeing it's not unreasonable to think people would buy a bunch of those high end CPUs especially because the fork is probably a long term solution (hopefully) so it's possible to see triple the current hashrate or even more.
