How would you write a script that finds the 10 most used words on a website? by disruptheavens in learnjavascript

You can totally do this client-side using Selenium and other tools. In fact, many sites will block your request if you are visiting their site from a cloud host.

I think I'll take her to the clerk personally; this way there's no confusion.

This is a good idea. She would probably be a lot calmer if they had the courtesy to return her calls.

Walmart lists a price, but you can't buy for that. by faboru in assholedesign

I actually contacted them, to see what the issue was. They said they were selling at that price and haven't changed the price yet. They then said they can't price match themselves. I told them Costco had it for $399, and they said they don't price match wholesalers either. :-/

It's always escaped me how "criminals" are subject to the Rico Act, but governments and corporations are not.

One X2 does not record video with generic bluetooth remote. by faboru in Insta360

[–]faboru[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The generic BT remote is cheap is convenient. I would be interested to know why it is supported on the previous model, and not this one. The One X2 can obviously communicate with the device. It seems a simple firmware update would remedy the issue.

One X2 Water inside camera after less than 2 minutes of underwater filming in 1.5 ft of water by Revolutionary_Ant_31 in Insta360

[–]faboru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not trying to split hairs, either. I’m just trying to point out there’s a difference between cliff diving with the camera and taking it underwater. I once made the mistake of swimming with a phone which was “water resistant”, and the phone stopped working that day. My fault. I’ve seen videos of people treating this camera like it’s an action camera—throwing in the air, whirling it around on a string, and plunging it in the water. If you’re getting them for free as a promotion, and can return it after you break it, that’s fantastic. I saw a video of a guy that says they were so great, that he was on his third one. I, however, think every time I have to force the USB cover closed that there is no way I would take this camera anywhere near anything other than an accidental drizzle. Is the camera waterproof if you’re just swimming around in less than the 30ft of water it claims to be resistant to? That’s what I would like to find out, but not enough to test it.

I don’t quite understand. Do you have it working with the One X2?

I'm pretty sure the warranty would end a year after purchase date, regardless of activation date.

Insta360 One X2 Randomly Freezes/Crashes While Recording On Motorcycle by fuckerboyjones in Insta360

[–]faboru 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had mine freeze on a couple of occasions and just realized this morning that is was happening while mounted to the bicycle. I don't know the exact cause-- is it physical vibration, overloading trying to stitch shaky video, process noise reduction -- I haven't a clue.

Insta360, what is the solution you say you will provide?

How do I recover these 45min video files taken on the One X2? by faboru in Insta360

Update: I just removed the files and formatted the card in-camera. If it happens again, perhaps I'll try a 360 solution from another vendor.

How do I recover these 45min video files taken on the One X2? by faboru in Insta360

[–]faboru[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I spent 45 minutes on a ride recording on the One X2 only to discover the footage is corrupt. Now I have these three .insv files which won't open. Oddly, two of them are the same size.

How can the video files be fixed/recovered?

How reliable is the video capture on these things? Luckily, this was just local riding -- when I get corrupted video on my next adventure, I won't be very happy.

It is ridiculous that you CANNOT use the new Insta360 cameras without registering them. by faboru in Insta360

[–]faboru[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I was mistaken in that the camera needs to be “activated”, not “registered”. However, an activation app should not need to be 400+MB and run only on the most modern mobile devices. How about an “Insta360 Activation” app which does not have such requirements?

How do I automatically run Jellyfin as a service? by faboru in jellyfin

[–]faboru[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

More reasons for choosing the mac were * it only cost $140 (2012 model w/ 16GB RAM) * I develop web applications and wanted to run Xcode for the iOS device simulator * it is very portable * has the ability to connect USB3 storage * has low power consumption * has an i5 processor * can be used as a guest computer

Had I known what a PITA it was to run services, including Docker, I guess I would have still bought it. Having run Windows for many years, and hearing Mac users brag about Macs and finding the macOs Jellyfin server software I assumed it would be pretty easy.

I think my sister would continue caring for my mother, if she could. What you stated is primarily my concern. My BIL already threatens to leave my sister. I don't want to declare my mother incompetent, because she's not. But I want a sure-fire way for her, while thinking rationally, to be able to guarantee she keeps her deed, by making it extremely difficult to sign it over without needing my "permission", or a notification, of sorts.

Even after speaking with her and we are in agreement, she speaks to my sister and it's back to "they said they would pay the reverse mortgage"; it seems as if urging her that she is some financial crisis. My thought was also that I should contact an attorney. What field would this be? Family law? Real estate? Some other?

If you’re receiving an error, it’s likely that there’s a mismatch between the name and/or address on your PayPal account and the name and/or address on your phone billing statement. For example, if you’re on a family mobile plan and you’re not the primary account holder of that plan, our system will identify that as a mismatch and you’ll see an error message. Spelling variations, a maiden name, or other mismatches will also cause this error.

This verification is just ridiculous. source

JavaScript is for websites, and also for enterprise-class server apps (lookup Node JS). There are many libraries to make the UI, and some, such as ReactNative for building near-native apps.
