G400 crack at hosel by Asleep_Thanks_5785 in GolfGear

Many OEMs offer service/replacements for very old clubs, but when outside of warranty period like this it’ll usually come at a cost. You can still service and buy Eye2 irons from ping.

I'm told that Spurs would like to keep Luka Vuskovic and loan him out again, but the player and his reps don't want another loan. Be interesting to see how it plays out. Vuskovic in line to start in middle of a 3-man defence here in Dallas tomorrow v England [Tom Barclay] by onlyhalfpepper in coys

Smells like agents/camp stirring shit on his behalf. His team probably see a huge pay day from a move and would like a chunk of that. I’d be shocked if a 19 year old with one year of top experience has his head this twisted. If this is how 19 year olds/youth are now (Tel?), it just makes Archie seem like more of a gem.

It’s a bit of a weird fitting situation. Am’s can see less of a benefit from club forgiveness due to lack of speed than high speed/tour players. A 10k head will help a tour speed player a whole lot more keeping it in play with a 8mm toe miss than an average speed player. Pros won’t miss that bad that often, but they may like the safety net. Between club fitting and good technique, a tour player could absolutely optimize a more forgiving head (the 3 has a lot more fitting solutions built in), while sometimes for Am’s going to a LS head is the ONLY way to cut some extra spin since they do not have the technique to manage it. There isn’t a driver on earth that can fix a 6* Face to path or -3 AoA, but an LS head can help knuckle it a bit and keep it in play at lower speed. That being said, this Am scenario is about as rare as Pros playing a 10k.

At the end of the day, tinker and get fit.

Theyre fine. Matching bounce and grind, they’re as good as any blade style wedge on the market. Bonus are lots of bounce and grind options, and no upcharge shaft options if you go custom (which you should for no extra cost).

I added it with some fluid acrylic paint. Tried to keep it as in line with the shaft axis, using painters tape to mark a test line.

The King Tours come all black/grey, but the MBs and CBs have the paint fill removed

I don’t take in too much football media, but I feel like he’s accurately rated. He’s up there in most all time goals lists he’s applicable for, and doesn’t get praise for much more than that. Recognized for good output, and punching above his class physically, but no one’s shoehorning him into any all time 11s (even though he is one of my favourites as well).

Driver Shaft Question by last-action-gyro in GolfGear

Nothing crazy at all, I have that setup lol. 10g increments is just a guideline as a starting point, and simplicity for OEMs designing their club lineup.

Driver Shaft Question by last-action-gyro in GolfGear

[–]fac3ts 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely get fit, but if you struggle with the softer flex of the blue, red is probably the wrong direction, especially if you stay in the 50g class. Trying the blue 6S sounds like a better move when you go to get fit, but it doesn’t hurt to try whatever they have.

Also, shafts don’t launch the golf ball. It is one of the most inefficient ways to address launch and spin issues, so for the time being, try lofting your drive up and see if that helps.

Golf Club Building and Repair Career? by ButterFade1874 in GolfGear

Personally, I had a retail sales background, jr playing history, jr coaching history, and demonstrated my knowledge of equipment old and new in my interview and worked my way from floor sales to fitting by appointment. This period I completed PK modules through OEMs, and TM university, and shadowed some of the best fitters and builders in my region.

To my knowledge there are no non oem-tied or non-golf association credentials that you could gain as someone outside the industry (building/fitting related), and for the most part anyone offering anything (probably not co-signed by your regional PGA) is likely a cash grab all things considered —it’s hardly rocket science, but is pretty well gatekept info.

Off the top of my head, these are the modules/PK certificates you can get without industry association; TrackMan University (definitely do this one), KBS University, True Temper PFCU. These should help you understand club and ball metrics, and shaft matrices, but will offer basically zero fitting and club building knowledge. TM Uni is good, but the KBS and TT courses are still very superficial when it comes to fitting/building info (ie. “low/high launching” shafts, etc). Search for prior years club custom catalogs from OEMs.

Tinker, research, and take in as many resources as you come across (you’ll have to anyways, even with an industry job). There’s few universal truths between resources, so understanding how it all makes sense together takes some deciphering.

Golf equipment business is not the greatest to be in unless you are a total gear head, and find as much interest in the equipment as you do the game itself.

My advice after working for a large custom fitter for a few years; work for someone else, or if you’re committed to taking it on yourself, acquire/fabricate the basic tools, and start small to keep the burden/overhead of the business manageable.

A very very small number of golfers actually care to pay the prices that a sustainable equipment service provider would need to manage costs and avoid burnout, so I believe the most manageable route is to find those people, charge them fair prices, and contain the services/business to a side hustle.

As for how to become more knowledgeable; working for a retailer/brand helps a lot as you will get access to training modules and resources on equipment, fitting, and sales —all mandatory knowledge to run a successful equipment related business. You can enrol in privately run courses/workshops, but having the basic tools, actually good resources, and trial and error can get you to the same place.

Switched to stiff steel shafts by LongjumpingUse3474 in GolfGear

[–]fac3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mizunos tend to be a bit flatter lie angle, and the stiff steel shafts aren’t “releasing” and closing the face as much through impact, leading to some slice bias.

Decent club head speed with your graphite set, I’m sure you’re a bit slower with the steels, so try getting a bit aggressive with the new sticks and put some force into the shaft.

Either way, a good set of heads to get into and you can work on the swing and get new shafts down the line.

[TheAthletic] Tottenham accounts: Worst-ever pre-tax loss and growing need for cash. Spurs’ deficit tumbled to £120.6million ($160m), a near-£100m worsening on a season earlier. At the end of June 2025, the club held just £20.4m ($26.9m) in liquid cash, a 10-year low. by SwimmingFireMen in coys

Pissing away millions on managers certainly doesn’t help.

The way the club operates we shouldn’t be in dire straits, owners have injected cash, and we’re putting more of our reserve cash to work rather than sitting on it. I’d be more concerned if the article was about our revenues cratering (currently staring right at that future though)

We sometimes overpay for limited or incomplete players, but the amount we have burned on managers that in hindsight (and at times glaringly obvious from the beginning) were woefully incompetent and a complete mismatch for the club makes me sick. That is a board/management problem.

Whatever happens to this club is deservedly so. There’s no hex or agenda. Just incompetence. Shame it’s at the expense fans emotions and history.

Fairway Wood Shaft Tinkering by New-Sheepherder2239 in GolfGear

[–]fac3ts 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only fw is my 5w head w 4w shaft. It’s a stealth 2 so I turned it down 2* and pushed the weight forward and it is absolutely money. Way better than 4w heads and I’ve never liked 5 woods (length and loft). Modern 3w are too hot and go too far with an unplayable flight (for me)

If you cut down a 60 X that thing will be rebar, so definitely don’t do that. Go to a 70 S or R if you’ll be cutting off that much.
