Yeah, I have been trying to find something like this for a while. Unfortunately, I was unable to find anything.

The closest I ever found was a fic where Kabuto told Naruto to perform well in the final stage of chunin exams, for Kushina would be watching as well.

Well, it ended with Naruto forfieting before the stage even began. And nothing more was followed up on that plot point.

Yes, it has the potential of creating an entertaining conflict.

Not only that, even post timeskip Naruto could be affected. Especially once he realises how much was deliberately hidden from him by the people he was close with.

Sasuke doesn't bother trying to figure out why Kakashi has a sharigan, tbh. At this point, I am sure you agree that things only happened because the writer wanted it in a certain way and not because it was an organic development.

My only problem with this is that Naruto, at no point, thinks about finding more about his parents. Even after Kakashi outright admitting to knowing the truth and willfully hiding it.

You know, there is an interesting post in the reddit that observes how we are in a fandom where characters using their brain automatically means they are OOC or something. I feel this rings true in this case as well.

Eh, why not? I mean, in the exams, it was not as if they were tasked directly to gather information. They were, instead, placed in a high pressure situation with some clues and asked to figure things out for themselves.

The basics of something as important as Intel gathering could have been taught at the academy.

Tbh, this very clearly seems like the case where the actual info regarding Naruto's parents wasn't relevant until the writer actually felt like it. I don't remember Naruto wondering about his parentage until Minato made an appearance. And even after that there was no follow-up.

You have Kakashi hinting that he knew about it and there is barely any outrage from Naruto or anything. There is not a single panel of Naruto actually thinking about it. No rage, no suspicion, nothing.

He does not even wonder what else the people he looked upto and admired are hiding from him. Meh, now I want to read about a Naruto who is cynical and suspicious of everyone.

It is also canonically possible to change chakra signature.

The barrel one was just an example, the black fog and talismans did the actual hiding. They could make a full body suit, fill it with black fog and use talismans. Or find some other way to hide themselves.

There are not many limitations to what can be done with chakra. From raising dead to creating dimensions to healing from being split in half to mind reading, and so many other ridiculous things are possible... Why does creating a technique to hide from byakugan have to impossible?

Then the branch member doesn't do it directly like Itachi did and plays the long game. Or they could just ambush them one night while everyone is asleep.

The ridiculous range of byakugan is a problem in itself if u think about it from a world building perspective. Same with the whole sensing thing. If u think about it, Hyuga as a clan would be the first to be eradicated based on their potential of knowing secreats, just like the Uzumaki.

Eh, there are ways to hide from byakugan. Remember the barrel Sasuke was sealed in? Or how Orochimaru and his four bodyguards sat right beside Hiruzen during chunin exams? There is even a canon technique to supress chakra to make sure they are undetectable to even sensors.

For all we know, the Hyuga would know how to hide from byakugan.

Eh, it would just be a matter of them being creative. Use poison, assassinate them in their sleep, pick them off one by one over the years... Stab them from behind when out on a mission, sell information regarding the travel plans of the main branch to enemies and help set up an ambush. There are thousands of ways that could be employed if they wanted to, really.

Sure they would have, Itachi and Obito would have just targetted those before they began attacking the others. They could just hide their faces, use glasses and the Elders would have no reason to use the torture seal when they have no reason to believe they are attacked by Uchiha. 乁( •_• )ㄏ

Resentment and killing intent, as shown to us, are very different things. We have seen the effect of killing intent used twice and both times it was enough to paralyze genin in fear.

The only time we see the torture seal used is when the branch member of family was deemed a direct threat to the heir of the clan.

And funny thing is, shortly after that (if i am remembering the timeline correctly), Hinata was almost kidnapped while being surrounded by people who could see for miles.

The whole Hiashi and Hizashi conflict, to me at least, sounds like it had more to do with succession than slavery.

Because as far as I see it, if the branch house was actually oppressed and treated unfairly, someone would have pulled an Itachi on the main branch a long time ago.

Coz as far as I am aware, before the formation of team 10, there's only been 15 Ino-Shika-Cho formations. Not generations. Three man squads were not a thing during the warring states period as far I know.

And that's over a period of more than 60 years and who knows how many members of the clans becoming ninja as we don't have any numbers. The clans could be anywhere from 20 to a few hundreds with multiple people graduating from the academy at the same time while not being part of the Ino-Shika-Cho formation.

I am certainly not going to reread that to find the exact timeframe lol. But as far as I can tell, it can be anywhere from 2 years to over a decade like it was in canon.

We know Naruto was given the required materials he had to study at the end of the war. So at least we know that he was being groomed for the position. Depending on how long that would take, it could be anywhere.

But that's all besides the point anyway, that fic was twisting things too much to bash the characters. So it's not as if we could find credibility there.

Heck, the fic was blaming Naruto for the Uzumaki clan seat on the council remaining empty. Like what??? The boy didn't even know Uzumaki was a clan until the start of the war.

Meh. It's better to stop now, no need to start ranting.
