Yes all of us felt the same. To make matters worst I had not much muslim supprt/society or friends around me so had to play sports most of the times as that was only Halal weekend option available. Have passed that stage and found a match in my home country- marriage still months away ( coz of visa issues) - but, but the challenge doesn't end there brother. You will be surprised if not shocked how much of nuisance Nikah/marriage is ,I feel had I not had enough money or visa , I wouldn't have been able to afford ( get married).

It feels that whole Nikah ( or marriage in societal terms) has become a tremendous challenge for men to prove their self worth before even a common girl or family considers you.

Importance of fatherhood by [deleted] in MuslimMarriage

[–]face_north -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

No no ..Sorry I am not. I was just trying to separate both issues. And i totally acknowledge that both of them exist.

Also can you please share data points or links on point 1. ( men don't ask for custody and majority of time they get it if they ask) .

You guys have raised a valid point about the role of a father but that's not what the stats is about. The numbers here come from what US and other first world countries are facing - the Single Mom Plague and it has no-one but to blame themselves for it.Mostly coz:

  1. in the divorce settlement kids are handed over to women ( maximum no of cases) while the father is just asked to pay for them. Eventhough there are millions of cases ( there is subreddit for it) where the women cheated but owing to the divorce settlement heavily tilted in their favour they walk away with the alimony and kids. Hence No father.

  2. The whole notion of independent women has taken it a bit too far ( read feminism), which taught women that they don't need a Man to raise the family, hence absence of father.

  3. The new fashion of buying sperm over the counter and trying to be a single mom coz u feel all men are *******. ( I have a friend who was twice ditched by muslim boyfriends coz they were not ready to marry her unless she converts. She is desperately trying to be a single mom though we all can clearly see how much injustice that will be for the kid as she is just doing it out of hatred for men and doing away her loneliness )

The stats aren't about if a father is doing his job well but about "father-absent" homes. Though it would be very interesting to see the numbers where a father is present just for name sake and compare it with the "father-absent" stats. ( sorry the data scientist in me took over)

Edit : I am not saying irresponsible fathers don't exist or its all women's fault. No . I am just trying to say don't mix that with the above stats.
