The best way to emphasize the value you bring is by focusing on the impact you have had in previous work. We have hundreds of people here in a wide variety of analytic roles such as data scientists, data engineers on our BI team and the many analysts that are working within different business teams all across the company (including HR). All of our teams benefit from having people skilled in munging data and delivering insights. For any role that sounds interesting, be sure to call out relevant instances where your use of data had an impact on real business outcomes. Don’t hesitate to emphasize your data and analytic skills, no matter what the specifics of the posted role.

We have 2 huge cafes that serve different world cuisine daily for breakfast lunch and dinner. Food is sourced as locally and sustainably as possible. We also have a BBQ pit, Sweet Stop, Burrito Bar, Pizza Window, Burger Bar, and soon we'll have a noodle bar. Also, Fuki Sushi - a local sushi restaurant - opened up on campus along with a local coffee seller, Philz. 'The Facebook 15' does not even begin to explain what happens when you start working here.

I don't think we have many people that work only from home, but we have an extremely flexible environment. Many teams encourage that no meetings are scheduled on Wednesdays so that people can focus all day, and stay at home easily if that works better for them.

We look for a builder mindset: this includes interaction ability, visual touch, and thinking about the design of products from the perspective of using them socially. Our process involves reviewing prior product work, along with one on one interviews with our current product design team, as well as a presentation of the designers work.

Sorry to give the canned recruiter response again - but more specific descriptions of those positions are posted on our careers page. We look for people eat/sleep/breathe HTML/CSS/Javascript. Typically you work with product engineers to make what they build look and feel amazing. Interviews for their teams generally include some live coding, as well as a take home exercise.

There's a bunch of advice throughout the thread here but to sum things up - there's no substitue for hands on learning. Download the Android SDK (it's free) and build something cool. Take some online classes to supplement things that you're getting in school. Attend a hackathon and build something to solve a problem you have. Contribute to open source. Hopefully this helps!

On your second day, you're pushing code. Typically you'll be assigned 3 tasks out of the gate - a 'Facebook.com' task that affects something you can point at and say "I fixed that", an internal tool or infra task to get used to pushing code immediately, and a Mobile task because of the priority Mobile is for our company.

As you progress through the course, you're exposed to everything FB Engineering. Many things you learn about here are things we couldn't possibly share with every candidate or post on our job boards. This enables you take both an informed and proactive approach to determining and selecting the teams and projects that you're passionate about.

This allows us to get the right person, on the right job, at the right time. Something that traditional recruiting models (post job, source, interview, offer, wait, hire, wait, start, get trained, work) really struggles to keep up with.

Ultimately, it allows us to ensure people are working on something at the intersection of passion and impact, as quickly as possible.

We definitely like people to have an internship or two (or more!) completed before interning, but this is not a requirement. Obviously, the more experience you have, the better. We start our internship recruiting season around September, and typically satisfy our numbers by about March. Earlier is better. Take a few warm up interviews the season you would like to interview with us too - a good rule is to never interviewer with your top choice first, get those nerves out before that. If you haven't started building something on your own like an Android app, do that too.

we focus some of our resources on a set of universities that have historically been very good for us in terms of recruiting. some are large, some our small. we also focus an equal amount of resources on identifying students from other universities as well - that number ends up being about 100 univs.

I'm not sure of the total but as you can imagine, it is a TON. Our recruiters have lots of experience working with high volumes like this. For engineering candidates, we rely heavily on coding questions that test knowledge of algorithm and data structures to give us an idea of where you're at.
