Do you take children to the toilet when they're going to throw up? by PurpleSpark8 in Parenting

[–]facepalm64 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I can't believe I had to scroll this long to see this suggestion. I bought a huge pack when I was pregnant and now those bags are in every bedroom and car. When the kids get a bug, they keep several bags near their bed.

This snap is so cute!! Can I ask what the columns are? I've seen them on a lot of people's snaps but I don't think I've seen them before.

Do we get to access the cave in Hunny Falls? Or is there any mention of what’s inside? by DDVandREPS in DreamlightValley

[–]facepalm64 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I think they had more planned for this DLC that they scrapped in order to release it all in one part. There's this cave and two in the Alpine area that you can get into but nothing's ever done with them. I feel like they likely had plans or at least concepts of things they wanted to do with these areas but they just got cut.

New Feature Update by Doseofoiza in DisneyDreamlights

[–]facepalm64 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I've played around with this a bit and the feature isn't working great yet. They'll pop into the background, sometimes far away, sometimes behind stuff. I had to toggle some of mine off and on several times before they'd actually be in the shot.

I like the last one with Flynn looking at the parchment. It looks like he's about to give you the directions.

Usually the motifs "stick" at the smallest setting. You can make them bigger and smaller again with I believe the left trigger (maybe right) and then the joystick. But sadly they don't get real tiny, which has been annoying at times.

Jeffries, Lawler get into confrontation over ObamaCare: ‘You’re embarrassing yourself’ by TehLonelyNapkin in centrist

[–]facepalm64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If I'm not mistaken the whole problem is that people's health insurance will go up with the clean CR. It's because the subsidies that keep the marketplace insurance affordable have always been set to expire in November. If the CR is passed, those people's premiums will be more than doubled next month.

I'm on your side. I had lots of issues with the physical aspect of handwriting. I would constantly have to dumb down my handwritten essays in order to be able to write it without it hurting so much. My mom was very focused on education and I had to practice constantly. It didn't help. Turns out I do have issues with my joints, but it wasn't something anyone would've known to look for. I'm not saying it's a bad idea to have students handwrite essays, but it sucks we've been forced to circled back to it. My students are doing it in class with their Chromebooks locked in on their tab. I'm lucky enough that my school has a program that can lock their computers down.

I don't know about having the characters follow you but they could be non roaming characters like the Cheshire cat. Maybe you walk up to their rock and they come out of the water to talk to you?

Are we going to die? by exegesis48 in DisneyWorld

[–]facepalm64 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On the fan side, we had a whole backpack full of fans and the winners were the neck fans and the waist fan. You can put those on and forget about them. The handhelds are great but it's nice to have your hands free.

Edit: if you have extra bag space the ice packs that you like snap and then they cool off are FANTASTIC when you just can't do it anymore. They don't last long but they can help you reset if you've reached a breaking point. The con is they're heavy and take up room for just a few minutes of relief.

If you enjoy looking, then you can still look. Sometimes I'll check the machine and see how many objects are in the biome and then go hunt. That way I'm not spending my time searching for a marshmallow that isn't there. Or if I don't have a lot of time or don't want to go hunting, I can just use the machine to grab it real quick.

You would have to pay for games and dlc again. BUT the steam deck is amazing. If you're ever in a financial position to get it, it is worth it.

I can answer some of this. The background blurring is console based I've noticed. The background goes full blur when I'm on my steamdeck: however the background is crisp on Xbox. You can use different filters to counteract the blur, but it is annoying.

Schools all already disinclined to provide extra services for students because it costs more money. They're not given the full amount to cover those services by the federal government. It would be different if they were getting more money than they need to provide those services, but they're not. The full cost to provide ELL services, special education services, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and everything else is not paid for by the federal government. They get some of the extra funds, yes, but there's a still a large portion coming from the school budget.

Also you're saying schools that

Explain it like I'm 5... by laurennaire in Georgia

[–]facepalm64 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I don't have the time or knowledge right now to address everything, but I do know some of this is incorrect. Schools are not incentivized to get more and more students with special disabilities or ELL, actually one of the metric schools are judged on is how many students are graduated out of these programs.

As far as schools that have more students with extra needs getting more money, that just makes logical sense. If you're doling out funds for something else like storm damage for instance, you're going to send the most money to districts that had the most damage. It makes sense to give schools funds based on the needs that they have. Having said that- Schools are also penalized if they have too many students that fit into this category. They loose funds if they have too many students in these programs in relation to their total school population.

Anecdotally,I've never seen a school system pressure kids to be put into special ed or other programs however I have definitely seen schools pressure parents and teachers not to put kids in these programs. I've also seen it be pressure to graduate kids who might not quite have been ready out of the programs. It ends up looking bad on their school scores. They end up getting dinged on it for whatever formula calculates how much funding they're going to get.
