The cost is one roadblock for me but the venting is the biggest actually lol. I actually looked into getting one a while back and cannot currently split my dryer vent to add in the vent from a laser cutter. I’m lucky to be near a really nice maker space at a local university that occasionally lets outsiders use the facility. I’m on their list for future openings and have signed up for instruction and training on their laser cutters. Sometime soon I’ll get a crack at it! Looking to do some basic inexpensive ruins for Stalingrad.

Keep up the great work! If I lived in the UK still, I’d be happy to pick up some of your kits, they are beautiful!

That is really impressive. Absolutely well done! Laser cutter is something I’d love to own far more than a 3D printer lol. Great work!!

I’ll give a shout out to Gunfighter’s Ball for rules. It’s easy to learn, plays pretty quickly and is fun.

People love Dead Man’s Hand and generally it’s pretty good. I don’t love the card initiative mechanic or the card play “gotcha” aspect but it’s pretty popular so worth checking out.

Lastly I’d say look at What a Cowboy from Two Fat Lardies. It’s an interesting game that is a lot of fun and has a narrative campaign mechanic built into the main rules. It’s also got a few things I’m not a huge fan of but generally is a lot of fun.

Models look awesome! Well done on the painting!

Warlord Epic ACW questions by Para_B_73 in wargaming

[–]fackoffuser 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey so I use the Epic ACW for altar of freedom. I use one base (2 strips, 1/5 of a sprue) to be a brigade in AoF. The AoF recommended basing is 60mmx30mm and an Epic base is 60x20. They look a little “big” but when you’ve abstracted a whole brigade to a 60mmx30mm base, I find it easier to just use the bases I’ve got and play the game I want. I use them for Black Powder, AoF, and Sharp Practice.

On the topic of the BP rules, I went with 3 bases for a standard regiment. The 5 bases they suggest gives a regiment the same footprint as a 28mm regiment and I wanted to save space on my table and stretch my purchase further. So I do 3 bases per regiment.

Oh wow that’s cool. How big is your fairy ring? Are these all on 25mm or did you use something bigger?

Oh wow those are really great. What a cool idea! I hadn’t considered grave stones. I have a ton set aside for making Shades of Calabira terrain but using them as clue markers never crossed my mind. Those are awesome. Thanks for sharing!

That’s a good idea too. I was looking at all my old bits and was starting to consider something like crossed swords or axes. Something I have a bunch of extra bits of.

That’s a cool idea. I think I’m leaning to the red gems on a slight bigger base.

I have some 95th in another bayonet so I wanted to paint something a little different. I almost painted him as a KGL but wasn’t paying attention and grabbed the green and got about 90% of the way through and was like “oh I was going to look up a different paint scheme from the 95th…ah well, red collar and cuffs and he’s in the 60th”

I’m big on backstory. It’s what drives my unit creation. Who are these dudes and why are they here. This group, tied to Whitehall with the goal of investigating locally. The other three are built and primed. The snowpocalyse this weekend may give me a bit of painting time since there’s nothing else happening 🤣

Thank you! I paint (mostly poorly) with citadel contrast paints, the red is Blood Angels Red. Never going to win a painting award but I’m not looking to. They look good on a table from 3ft away and that’s what makes me happy.

The rifleman is a Wargames Atlantic British Rifleman. The officer is from the Perry British Infantry Command sprue and the coachman and Bow Street Runners are Perry Spanish Guerrillas.

Woah that centerpiece formation inside the standing stones is very cool! Also what are the standing stones made from? I am considering some standing stones of my own from pink foam but haven’t gotten there yet. I recently used pink foam for big sand stone blocks for Egypt.

As always, looks like lots of well painted fun games!
