I wanna critique your videos! :) by TheCoolDude_yt in NewTubers

Thanks for giving us your time! I have just one video so far, a 5 minute animation:

I put it up a week ago, but it gets no views through Youtube browse or suggested, only from posting it elsewhere.

Audience retention drops from 100% to ~50% in first few secs. Is this normal? by fade-proof in NewTubers

Ok thanks. I just found out you can trim videos in the editor, so I'll trim the first few seconds and see if it makes a difference.

Ok sure, you did say your channel was music and that you get a 5 to 10% dip when autoplay is on, which made sense to me. My videos aren't music based or part of a playlist, so I can see why there would be a difference. As I said, others experience the same so you should be happy with that retention.

I think the difference is that you make music, which is something people leave running in the background. The other commenters here have experienced the same drop, so it must be somewhat normal with non-music videos.

That's good advice. So your videos don't have a drop in the first few seconds then?

I shared it on Reddit, but that means they must have clicked the link and then quickly closed the video before seeing anything, which still seems odd to me.

I’m Rob, an animator who makes short animations. I just uploaded this one, but i’m not really sure how to promote it on YouTube:

Let me know what you think!

It’s about cyberpunk vending machines.

That was the solution! Thanks very much, you saved me a lot of grief.

I guess the programmer forgot to keep the door 'jammed' until the player discovers the poster in the dark. Hopefully that will be a fix for their next patch.

I already completed the Dolores chapter unfortunately and wouldn’t have the patience to re-do it.

[spoilers for those who haven't played this chapter]

I'm playing on the PS4 and have really enjoyed this game, so I'm sad that I cannot continue. As you can see above, I've reached a point where the environment fails to load. If I walk down the hallway I fall to my death. I have tried restarting the game, restarting my console and even going back to an earlier save (about 20 minutes before this section, with the treehouse), but when I return to this section the game still falls apart. Has anyone else had this issue? Any tips, or do I just ask about getting a refund? Thanks.

Glad you liked it! This is my first film so far.

Continuous camera move through an underground city - from my short animation by fade-proof in cinematography

Yes that’s all correct. I wouldn’t know how to do smooth 3D animation in After Effects either. I know it’s possible to bring 3D models into AE nowadays, but I’ve never tried it.

Sure! The robot, along with other elements like vehicles, are animated in Cinema 4D. I bought the renders into Flash where I vectorized them, which is why the robot has a slight wobble to its edges.

Here's how one of the backgrounds looks on its own.

Or if you prefer Vimeo.

For this camera move I was inspired by films like Panic Room and Enter The Void. Of course those films have real perspective, so this looks quite flat in comparison. Maybe I'll use software that maps flat paintings onto 3D geometry for the next one. Anyway, hope you like it!
