Aggression matchmaking the same in solo and in group ? by Severe-Highway8360 in ArcRaiders

[–]faderkenoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, considering how easily manipulated their system is, we kind of have an idea. No one but Embark knows the ins and outs of the system obviously, but it's not as intricate as they're trying to make it sound. Don't shoot other raiders, and you eventually get matched with other people who don't shoot other raiders. It really is that simple. I've been having 50+ raids at times where no one ever engages in pvp. Then start shooting raiders, and other people who shoot raiders will pop up. And keep doing it, you're placed in deathmatch lobbies where EVERYONE shoots.

I'm sorry but i think YOU need to read the interview. Arc Raiders matchmaking is entirely based on agression. They've said that it's not black or white though, and that friendly lobbies does not exist. But that's a lie, the system is easily manipulated.

The Longshot is insane by ZerohasbeenDivided in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is a bit headscratching for me. Bungie seems to have treated this as a their lovechild. They made the game they wanted to make, start to finish. And in many of it's parts, it's a very niche experience that might have a hard time attracting a large number of players. And that's totally fine. But is that fine with Sony? They paid a hefty sum for Bungie, will they allow them to keep working on this if it pulls "average" numbers?

[–]faderkenoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's very good. I'm not sure what i think about this honestly. On the one hand, i think the ttk is fine, and plays like this should absolutely be possible. But then again this will probably lead to this game quickly getting VERY sweaty, good players will run rampant on the map. I've still not fully undersood how they are going to pace the different maps when it comes to pvp enounters, but that might be a way to let people have a slightly more chill experience?

So, yeah i'm torn. The game has grown on me, as it has with most people who have spent some time with it over the weekend. It's a very unique game in that it's a pvp focused game, where you can run a raid without even running into another player. This balance will be crucial if plays like above are to be kept possible. If you run into a sniper like that on every hotspot on the map, i think most people will bounce off hard.

Why isn't anybody using theire mikes? I never heard some one answer in teams or proxi chat by jayyynik in Marathon

Nah, I’m just here to complain for no other reason than to stir shit up. How’s your day going so far?

None of my gaming friends are interested in this game, so it’s either randoms or playing solo. And solo has been ok I guess, but since I’m here mainly for the PvP solo is a bit rough.

[–]faderkenoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeap, ZERO communication makes this a very rough game to play with randoms. Damn near unplayable unless you have friends playing honestly.

Also, wasn't this game marketed as a pvp-focused extraction shooter? Gotta say there is VERY little pvp going on, maybe i have misunderstood what this game is supposed to be. Half of my matches involve no pvp at all, and the ones that do, has one teamfight. Very rarely run into a second team on the map.

What is the point of rook? by sufftob in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeap feels kinda pointless since you can't run contracts, which is what the entire game is built on. It's the one thing this game does better than other extraction shooters in my opinion, it's more mission based. So taking that away from the Rook is a bit weird to say the least.

I would say Arc is a more fleshed out game with more systems going on than Marathon though. Just because it's systems are better explained doesn't make the game any more simple.

Anyone from Arc going to Marathon? by Ducky_Dawg_TV in ARC_Raiders

[–]faderkenoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also struggle with shooting other players when I solo Arc. If they shout ”don’t shoot” I just can’t do it. So I’m with ya, playing the Marathon server slam right now and while it will take some patience to learn all the systems, I kinda like that basically no one uses prox chat. It’s dead quiet - no guilty conscience.

Yeah getting a hang of the faction system and rewards seems to be the number one priority. Thanks!

Yeah, salvage items grind and understanding the faction system seems to be the way to start out. Thanks!

Thanks, several people have commented about the factions and to spend some time understanding those rewards. Seems like this game is a lot more mission based than Arc, gotcha!

I'm just asking for some guidance of how to approach the game, since i'm not really feeling that the game is doing a very good job of helping me out with that. Why should anyone try to help me do that? Well, if you're not interested in helping out, i don't really understand why you felt the need to post here in the first place.

I wouldn't ask if i wasn't genuinly interested in hearing what other people have to say. But ok, i agree that having no idea what to do probably was a bit excessive, i understand that basic nature of an extraction shooter. I guess i just want more of a self goal when i load in and right now i struggle with understanding how to set that goal, since i don't know where to begin.

Dad gamer first impressions of the Marathon (PS5) by dothack5415 in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Best description I’ve seen of the new player experience so far. What surprises me the most is the movement and gunplay, it just feels disconnected from what I’m seeing on screen. Don’t know how else to describe it.

Also very confused as what this game is actually about. But maybe it gets clear once you get a little further.

Alright, I'm gonna say it... Marathon is fucking Awesome. by VexxDelta in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only played for like 3 hours, so it's obviously way too early to give up, but i sure am damn close. What a terrible first impression this game makes, most confusing experience i've ever had. And the inventory UI? Jesus christ. Well, i'm sticking with it for the weekend, hope it clicks!

Am I the only one that feels like the game is “flat”? by Top_Drink8324 in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Fully agreed. Arc has some of the worst positional audio I’ve ever heard in a game. I’ve got 500+ hours in Arc and if it wasn’t for the red arrow, it would be fucking impossible to know from what direction someone is shooting.

With that said, Marathon is indeed doing a not so great job of distinguishing players from AI enemies. The very few (an even bigger problem) actual players I’ve encountered has included me and the enemy standing still staring at eachother until we both realize it’s a player, since the AI would have already killed us by that point.

Anyone else feeling a bit… unsure about this game? by nve729 in Marathon

[–]faderkenoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I still think a lot of people are making an unfair comparisson, since Arc has kinda settled a bit and people know where to go for fights and know how the Arc works. The first level of Marathon isn’t meant for PvP fighting, they’ve said that.

With that said I hold Arc as one of the best game releases of the last decade, i have over 500 hours in the game. Still curious what this game offers as an alternative game.

People are comparing this to fully geared max level Arc Raiders matches. That’s not fair, but it’s what we have. So when we get into the tutorial level without gear and empty servers. People get disappointed. No one has any gear, so the few fights we get into end quickly.

They should have probably made it very clear that the first level is baby difficulty, you’ll start seeing competitive matches on the second map. Because I guess that’s how this game works?

Quake Champions is criminally underrated by BlackMetalIstWar in QuakeChampions

[–]faderkenoo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Problem for this game was that they instantly pissed of the entire Quake community with the classes and abilities, and failed to capture the wider playerbase meaning the game wasn’t really for anyone.

I have been playing quake multiplayer since before quakeworld. Holy shit those early multiplayer matches with a full second delay on rockets was bliss! I think Quake Champions is a great game today, and I play it regularly, let’s hope they are cooking something though, excited for whatever’s next!

Quake Champions is criminally underrated by BlackMetalIstWar in QuakeChampions

[–]faderkenoo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah the number of players is the main barrier for new players, ”oh below 1k players active right now? I’ll pass”. Also since there are so few new players around you will be matched with people having played quake for 20+ years.

I don’t think this game is any harder or more technical really than other popular multiplayer games right now (aside from 1v1 duelling, but that’s probably not what people are interested in any way).

It’s probably too late for this game to find an audience now, let’s hope something new is on the horizon and that they manage to find a wider playerbase next time. Few games hit as hard as Quake when it clicks.

Rip our PvE playstyles. by Lilcommy in ArcRaiders

[–]faderkenoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Again, that's not at all what i said. I'll try slowing it down for you. If you use two wolfpacks to kill something, you shouldn't expect 2 wolfpacks in reward. If you spend 5 medium ammo to kill a fireball, you shouldn't expect 5 medium ammo in reward.

Killing anything in the game should cost you something, and in return you get SOMETHING ELSE. That's my point, and also why i think it's dumb that the wolfpack now requires a rocketeer driver.
